    Hi,

One of my clients wants to have a video on the Home Page as a full screen background. I’ve been working on adding it to the colour section.

We now have a professional Film Editor cutting the movie for us and he asked what size/resolution the movie should be so it looks great on all devices including retina.

Do you have any recommendation for this? I saw that you recommend 16:9 ratio (or 4:3) but does that translate to in pixels? Or I don’t have to worry about that for movies?

    Thanks so much.

    Hey Corina,

You can upload the video to youtube and link it from there that will encode video properly and save you a lot of bandwidth as well or have it hosted on your own server.

In pixels the minimum it should be 1280px x 720px and max 1920 x 1080 px.

You can add any youtube video as background video and give it a try :)

Let us know if you have more questions.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay

Thanks so much for your quick reply. We were thinking of uploading it to Vimeo, I assume that’s the same result as Youtube.

So 1920×1080 will look nice and not pixelated on a retina screen?

    Thanks for clarifying.

    Hi,

vimeo is fine too. Yes, I think it should look crystal clear.

    Best regards,
