    Hey guys,

Small suggestion (but one that will have significant performance impacts) for the ALB Video element.

Currently, when you set a preview image (which is way better than autoloading the video in terms of performance) it loads that image as a background image. This has two negative impacts:

    1. This image can’t be served responsively
    2. It can’t be lazy loaded (this one is what flagged this with me in terms of performance)

Would it be possible to serve this image as a normal image, and float the play button over it for example? This small change would have big performance improvements and help with Web Core Vitals for every use of this element.

    Thanks for looking into it.

    Hey Tim,

    Thanks for your suggestion!

We have forwarded your request to Günter on GitHub and shared this thread as reference. We will inform you here in case we have any updates on your request as always :)

    Best regards,
