    After updating to Enfold version 4.2, I repeated the step of adding a function to the end of the functions.php file, to add a header widget next to the menu (as described in on the support site). This now seems to have no effect (meaning the widget does not appear in the header).

    resolved. Seems to have been an issue with delayed ftp transfer of edited files.
