    Hi team Enfold

One of my clients has a custom stylesheet in the folder enfold/css. It has always worked, but since today it suddenly doesn’t anymore. The stylesheet is still perfectly fine in place in this folder, I also tried moving it to the theme folder but to no avail. Could you have a look at this? I added a temp login in the private section, as well as the name of the stylesheet.

I already got in touch with our hosting company, they think it’s a theme-related issue.

FYI, this stylesheet changes the color of the booking system of the website from blue to our custom design. As you can see on the homepage, it’s blue now.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hey KatrienW,

Did you add code to Enfold to load that css? The thing is, you’re not using a child theme and so all changes made in the files in the parent theme are overwritten by every update. So you might want to use a child theme.

Here are the docs for you:

    Hi Victoria

I realize a child theme would prevent these issues, but unfortunately, I’ve used the guide you sent a couple of times already but we always end up losing a lot of our settings and css changes.

Could you tell me what code I have to add (and where) so I can keep using the parent theme? Could you also tell me why Enfold did load this .css file perfectly fine before, and now it doesn’t anymore?

    Hi,

Installing a child theme, then importing your parent theme settings works if you want to try that out. Running a child theme prevents problems like the one you are having now, since the file you are referring to will be overwritten on updates.

If you still want to run the parent theme then please add your CSS to Quick CSS in the theme options.

    Hi Rikard

I already tried doing what you described a couple of times. But even when I follow the guide to a T the settings are never fully transferred. For instance, the background image doesn’t show up even though you can see it in the general styling setting. Also, the main menu is completely different even though the menu settings are right and the right menu is set as the main menu. Since we have a huge number of visitors and people who book visits over this site, we can’t afford major changes at the moment.

So I’m going to give the child theme option another go when the season is over, in the meantime, I was able to fix the problem by adding the code to the custom.css file!

    Thanks you guys.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. I understand that you don’t want to risk anything with your live site, that is why you need a staging site which you can do things like this on. Once you see it working on the staging site, then you can do the same thing on the live site. Or simply push the staging site over to live.

    Hi Rikard

Exactly, we designed this site with WPStagecoach last year. So we’ll be using this again when it’s time to set the child theme up.

Thanks for your help and enjoy your weekend!
