I have since restored this site to a backup of version 4.5 but when I updated to 4.5.7
all the MANY trip pages on this site had broken sidebars & footers.
this page: https://www.andesworldtravel.com/trips/per-19-jampa-peak-5500-m-and-ausangate-trek/
looked like this:the footer was also broken on pages like this:
see: https://imgur.com/09cqUSf
I would like to be able to update the theme, but it seems like the “book here” and “contact us” button shortcodes were breaking the pages.
I know you can’t see the site now with the update, but can you see what might have been happening?
thanks

July 31, 2019 at 9:35 am #1123467Hi Nancy,
We will need to see the problem in question in order to help you out, I don’t think this is a general problems with the version you updated to since we haven’t had other users report the same thing. Could you update on a staging version of the site first maybe so that we can have a closer look at the problem?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 31, 2019 at 10:24 am #1123487Hi Rikard
I pointed out the issues I was seeing – a button shortcode in the sidebars and footer seemed to break the layout. I will try to set up a staging site, but it’s a big site to duplicate.
thanks for your help
NancyJuly 31, 2019 at 11:40 am #1123520here is my staging site below with 4.5.7 showing the same errors (*broken sidebars and footer due to maybe a button shortcode in the widget)
I see the maps are also not working properly after the update.thanks for taking another look.

August 1, 2019 at 5:30 am #1123735Hi,
Great, thanks for that. Could you post login details in private as well so that we can have a look at the backend please?

August 2, 2019 at 4:49 am #1124025Hi,
Thanks for that, let’s stick to one problem at a time. This is the error you are getting for the maps: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#referer-not-allowed-map-error. Could you check that the settings for your API key is correct please?
Best regards,
RikardAugust 2, 2019 at 11:21 am #1124131OK I got the maps working – I have the API in the theme options google services as well as in the maps settings – (they were different since I updated the API for the staging site and forgot to update the maps settings). Should I have the API listed in both places?
now about the sidebars…
thanks for your help
NancyAugust 3, 2019 at 3:45 pm #1124370Hi Nancy,
I think it makes sense to have the map key only on production since you will be paying for the views on the staging too.

VictoriaAugust 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm #1125098ok Any ideas about what is breaking the sidebars and footer?
seems to be the button shortcode I am using in the widget.August 7, 2019 at 11:34 am #1125466Hi,
Thank you for the update.
We can’t see any issue with the sidebar in the following page. Is it fixed? (see private field)
Best regards,
IsmaelAugust 7, 2019 at 12:26 pm #1125485it’s not fixed on my end.
It still looks like the images in the post aboveAugust 8, 2019 at 10:03 am #1125853Hi,
Thank you for the update.
You should remove your browser cache or try to check the site on another browser.
This is what we see on our end: https://imgur.com/a/w3sLolq

IsmaelAugust 8, 2019 at 10:50 pm #1126062thanks for the info.
The site looks OK on chrome & safari but not firefox (where I am developing). Cleared the cache.
What do you see on firefox?August 13, 2019 at 7:15 pm #1127372Hi,
I can see it fine, I do believe that this is a cache issue for you as it does happen only on one of the browsers ;)
Best regards,
