    Hi!

    I recently took over a site built with the Enfold theme. I am unable to communicate with the original developers and also unable to update the theme. Can you please help with this?

    Once the theme is updated I would also like to get a child theme in place. I have installed the Enfold child theme, but I’m not sure how to activate it while preserving the existing design of the website. Thank you!

    Hi Tim,

    I see that you have the latest version of the theme installed already. If you want to import your parent theme settings into the child, then please activate the child, then select to import the parent settings under Enfold->Import/Export.

    Hi!

    Thank you for these instructions. I apologize but I think I got ahead of myself.

    I’ve deleted the Enfold parent theme and child theme so you can see the site as it was given to me.

    The ‘Home’ theme (which is active) was created by the previous developers. Currently, there is no way for me to update this theme. How can I update this theme? Thanks!

    Hi Tim,

    The Home theme is an Enfold child theme, and child themes are not updated automatically. If you want to make changes to that child theme, you have to do them manually. If I have misunderstood your question, then please try to explain the problem you are having a bit further.

    Hi!

    I was unaware that the ‘Home’ theme is s child theme. That makes things much easier.

    All I need to do is install the Enfold theme that I purchased and keep it updated on the site (but keep the ‘Home’ child theme active), is that correct? Thanks!

    Hi Tim,

    Yes, you’re correct.
    Since the child theme is dependent on the parent theme, you only need to update the parent theme (Enfold) and the child would inherit the update.
