Hi,
I’ve now bought a new Enfold theme with license following on from a pre purchase question.Do I install the theme as a new them because there is now option to update the existing theme. See screenshot below.
I then have a question about order of actions.
I have to: 1) update the theme 2) Update WordPress 3) Update php
Remembering if I update php it breaks the old theme!
So what is the order to proceed please?
I enclose the link from the existing enquiry below

The order for 1 and 2 depends on how old is the Enfold version.
If it’s too old then I think you have it in the correct order since the latest version of the Enfold Theme supports older WordPress versions and PHP versions.
If the version is not too old then it does not really matter if you do 1-2-3 or 2-1-3.Best regards,

It has no facility to update in ‘appearance’, ( see screenshot below) so do I install it as a new theme then activate it? Also what about the style will we lose that if that style is not one of the current ones?

Thanks for the screenshot.
The theme update is located in Enfold > Theme Updates however it won’t work anymore because API keys are not used anymore and replaced with Envato token.
As for the styling it should still be preserved at least most of it.
Please try to update theme as listed below and make sure to have a backup first:Make a backup:
– Site Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-wordpress-site/
– Theme Settings Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-theme-settings/Update Enfold Theme
Option 1: Use Envato Market to update your site
– link: https://envato.com/market-plugin/Option 2: Update manually
1. Login to ThemeForest and download the Enfold theme, right-click over the downloaded zip file and extract/unzip it.
2. It should generate a new folder, open it and look for the enfold folder
3. Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip
4. Log in to WordPress as and Admin.
5. Install and activate a maintenance plugin and put your site in Maintenance mode.
6. Go to Appearance > Themes, switch to a default WordPress theme like TwentyTwenty then delete Enfold.
7. Click on the ADD NEW button.
8. Click on the UPLOAD THEME button.
9. Click BROWSE and choose enfold.zip file
10. Click the INSTALL NOW button and switch to Enfold or your child theme.
11. Remove the maintenance mode then deactivate and remove the maintenance plugin.Option 3: Update manually via FTP or cPanel
Register the theme by following the instructions in https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Once this is done, the next time you update, you’ll only need to go to Enfold > Theme Updates and click on the Update button.Best regards,
Nikko -
