Hi, I am struggling to get an important update done. I tried the advice from Yigit for updating from 4.4.1 to 4.5 thread (installing a plugin first and loading the update as a zip format like a new theme)
    with following frustrating results:

I installed the plugin, then went to my envato account and downloaded the enfold theme, but when I try to upload it I am getting this message:
The link you followed has expired. I tried several time.
    1. I downloaded just the the theme as zip (E:\Eigene Dateien\Downloads\themeforest-JoNzxygr-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip\)

And I found no place to put my token into my backend, only the old API formula ?

Maybe the problem is caused from having an older installation for this website from Enfold than my recent purchase of this theme in June 2017?

I am just starting to continue my website on my own, my web guy got lost very sudden due severe illness and I have some very time sensitive tasks to get done now without him :-(,

please help and explain for a beginners level,

    thank you very much, Anja

PS Do I have to worry that my site gets spoiled with this update? I have a child theme installed.

    Hey aconrose,

The update to 4.6 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

Make sure that the zip file you are uploading is the correct one, the file you are referring to might have to be unzipped and you should use enfold.zip within that package.

After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Dear Rikard, thank you very much for your help and it works fine now on my site now.

Please just let me know for further updates if all should work via the dashboard, through the normal update functions?
Or do I need some extra tasks for updating the site in future?

    kind regards, Anja

    Hi Anja,

The updates should work as normal after this, just make sure that you register your theme and add the token to the backend. I linked to the documentation in my first reply.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
