Hello,
I have folowing sys. info:1. WordPress version: 4.9.9
2. Enfold version (child): 1.0 (child/active), 4.0.2 (parent)
3. Server type: Apache/2.2.22I stuck for about two weeks trying to enable browser caching/expirations dates. I use gtmetrix tool (also YSLow, Google Speed ant etc) for testing purposes. All this tools shows me that I have not set the expiration dates/browser caching. I tried to set multiple plugins, tried to add strings to the httaccess file – nothing works.
In theory I understand that it is not a theme problem. That why I tried to find solution using google. Tried al this available tutorials – nothing works. But
I have other project at other server with the same server type – and there all works. gtmetrix shows almoust 100%. One difference there are older Enfold theme. I thought may be these new features appeared at new versions of the enfold, blocking somehow httaccess, because i tried so many times and so many different things – nothing works.
Please help if it possible.January 17, 2019 at 5:47 am #1054869Hey MAKSIMS,
Thank you for using Enfold.
The site is still running on a very old version of the theme, 4.0.2, so it doesn’t have the performance feature, which is available in the latest version of the theme. Please upgrade WordPress to 5.0.2 and the theme to version 4.5.2.
This article should help: https://kriesi.at/archives/scoring-100-100-in-google-pagespeed-insights-gtmetrix-pagespeed-and-yslow
Setting a browser cache is quite straight forward because all you need to do is define how long the files (scripts, css, images etc) will stay in the users’ local storage.

The article above provides a snippet that will go to your .htaccess file.

VictoriaJanuary 29, 2019 at 12:01 pm #1059954Hi Victoria,
I updated Enfold, WP, all plugins made some customizations at Performance section of the Theme Options. It gave me some more points at gtmetrix, but still can’t to enable browser caching mechanism. At the moment go through article Ismael gave me. Will update after it will done.January 29, 2019 at 12:39 pm #1059968Ismael,
actually it is not my first time to enable browser caching. What’s done for now:1. Enfold is updated
2. WP is updated
3. Browser caching enabling snippets are tried from multiple sources
4. Tried disable plugins and test – no luck
5. Tried to to leave at .htaccess just basic WP records and browser caching snippet – no luck
6. All plugins also updated
7. Your links are processed, snippets tested – no luck
all this steps give no result in one single factor of all – leverage browser caching it is 4 of 100 now :(Update: I tried another WP+Enfold page which leaves at the same virtual server – even there “browser caching” gives out 49%

February 6, 2019 at 3:08 am #1063430Hi,
I think it’s not working because of the server configuration. Please ask your hosting provider if the mod_expires module is enabled and tell them to upgrade PHP from 5.4 to version 5.6 or 7. The theme requires version 5.6 or higher.
Best regards,
IsmaelFebruary 6, 2019 at 11:57 am #1063565Hi,
thank you Ismael for your time. Appreciate it, thanks to your investigation I got all factors at green zone using GTMETRIX. We enable mod_expires and it works. They asks for money for upgrade PHP but it is another question.
Thank you one more time.February 7, 2019 at 9:56 am #1063966 -
