Hi,
I have never updated the old Enfold theme (bought in 2016) and would like to do it now.
I have tried via Theme settings, but it requires API key which no longer exists and is not supported.
What should I do? Try via FTP or should I do something before that.

Hey nikimrak,

The update to 5.7.1 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or upload the theme as if it was new under Appearance->Themes->Add New Theme.
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

Hi Rikard,

thanks for your answer. I have tried to upload the enfold.zip file via File manager inside Control panel, but it won’t let me.

It says:
The file you uploaded, enfold.zip, contains a virus so the upload was canceled: Sanesecurity.Foxhole.Zip_Js_Js.UNOFFICIAL FOUND

I have downloaded it today from Themeforest, can you please check it out.

Thank you for the inquiry.

You may need to extract the content of the enfold.zip folder to your local machine, then upload it manually via S/FTP. Please check the links below for more info:

Thank you Ismael and Rikard,

I have managed to update the theme. A few notes on how I did it, since it may be useful to someone else.

First I ran online virus check and online 1 out of 66 checkers found something suspicious: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/76d8c5f2d3761b74b3d7285cc6652e286db927d9ac381bcdeb53d852015b6ebc

Video guide how to update Enfold via FTP shows that you overwrite existing theme, that didn’t work for me.

I have uploaded via FTP to a new folder under themes and then inside WordPress I have activated the new theme. This worked immediately, even the old theme settings were picked up (I didn’t have to import them).

And that was it.
