Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.
No matter what I do I can’t get this to update…

    Please can you help?

    Hi,

Sorry for the problem. There was a recent change with the Envato API, and that is likely why you are having problems. Could you try this solution out posted by Günter please? https://kriesi.at/support/topic/problem-updating-enfold-download-failed-problem-downloading-theme/#post-1012243

    Hi geekeey,

Yes that would be great if we could have access details, please open a new thread and include them in private. Otherwise the original poster will have access to your details as well.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi there,

I have asked my server team to find out but from what I can see it says Fast-CGi Php version default if that means anything to you?

Also I have another website on my server running the same theme and that is updating no problem at all?

Did you login and check the issue?

    #1015782

Also just been told PHP 5.6

    #1015866

    Hi geekeey,

Well, if it’s php5.6.3, it’s still ok for a while.

Can you please share your FTP credentials and please have a backup made.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Sorry wrong username..

    Hi,
Thank you for the ftp access, I updated your theme and it seems to be working well.
I left your old version there for now until you check your site should there be a customization we need to get from the old files.
Please clear your browser cache and check your site.
Once you are satisfied with the new version please let us know so we can delete the old files to reduce future confusion.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Dear Friends
I am having the same problem too. Is this something that will be fixed, or will we have to update via FTP from now on?

Also is it a problem with the php version? The site in question is on a godaddy managed WP plan. Not sure what version they are running.

    Thanks Much, Rob

    Hi,
    @rdswestnet
After you update to v4.5 you should be able to update as normal, within the theme. You will need to have a minimum PHP of v5.6, but this has been a requirement for a while & I believe the godaddy managed WP plan has this.
Here are the steps to update with the plugin to assist.
1: please install the plugin: Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
    2018-10-20-104358
2: then go to WordPress > Themes > Add New > Upload
    2018-10-20-104649 2018-10-20-105401
3: after the install, click “Return to Themes page” (NOT Activate)
    2018-10-20-105705
    4: success:
    2018-10-20-110104

or if you start a new thread with your login info for WP & FTP, we can assist with your update.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi i am facing the same issues “An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.”
I am not too aware of the FTP upload process as i have been using the UPDATE function via the Enfold theme settings. Can you please help me update my theme to 4.5 as it is running on 4.12. I have provided the WP login details in the private content.

    #1054554

    Hi,
I took a look at your site and I see that you are using PHP Version: 5.4.45, where the minimum PHP version is 5.6
Please ask your webhost to update to v5.6 or v7.0, then if you open a new thread with your FTP access in the Private Content area, I will update for you. You can post the link to the new thread here so I can find it easier.
But as this is not your thread your login info and FTP access will not be private if posted here.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi there, I need help updating Enfold theme to 4.5 or above. Currently, I believe I have 3.8.
I tried the steps above installing the plugin “Update theme and plugins from zip file” but got the message below:

    Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    Theme installation failed.

    Could you help?

    #1055455

    Hi,

    @udhoshi

Typically this error occurs when you are not using the correct zip file to update with.
From Envato (Theme Forest) when downloading the theme files please use the “Installable WordPress file only” option.
    Downloading-the-wrong-zip
when you open the zip file you should see the theme files & folders inside, including the style.css, like this:
    2019-01-18-071509
If this doesn’t help, please include a admin login and ftp access in the private content area of a new thread, so we can be of more assistance. But as this is not your thread your login info and FTP access will not be private if posted here.

    Best regards,
    Mike
