Hi,
I have tried to upload the new release but it failed. This is the message I got:Installing Theme from uploaded file: themeforest-bkHhyhoY-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip
Unpacking the package…Installing the theme…
Destination folder already exists. /home/mumwhate/public_html/sparkylab.co.uk/wp-content/themes/enfold/
Theme installation failed.
Can you help me please?
Thanks
FrancescaSeptember 18, 2019 at 3:00 pm #1139509Hey,
If you have not inserted Personal token in Enfold theme options, please refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#what-is-an-envato-personal-token and insert it. Then you can update the theme from WordPress dashboard.
If you are using a version older than 4.5 or uploading new version on existing version, please install this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/ and upload updated version of the theme in Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload
Best regards,
YigitSeptember 18, 2019 at 11:55 pm #1139750Hi Yigit, thanks for your reply. I have registered the token and uploaded the plugin.
I got this message:
Installing Theme from uploaded file: themeforest-bkHhyhoY-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip
Unpacking the package…Upgrading your theme…
No backup of old version of theme created. Backup option disabled in settings.
Removing the old version of the theme…
Theme updated successfully.
In the live preview I see that all customisations are lost. How is that possible?
I didn’t activate the theme update yet, is it possible to revert it? I have the backup in updraft plus, but it wasn’t enough, I mean what is the backup option disabled?Waiting for your kind reply asap
Thanks
FrancescaSeptember 19, 2019 at 10:28 am #1139835Hi,
I didn’t activate the theme update, as would have lost all my customisations.
I have a child theme, how can I update without losing all my customisations?
Waiting fro your kind reply
Thanks!
FrancescaSeptember 22, 2019 at 7:05 am #1140563Hi Francesca,
You shouldn’t lose anything if you have your customisations in a child theme? If you have placed the new version in a folder called anything other then enfold, then please try to rename the old version to something like enfold_old, then rename the new folder to simply enfold.
Best regards,
RikardOctober 13, 2019 at 9:09 pm #1147616Hi Rikard,
I am still having troubles with uploading the update.
I have all my customisations in a child theme.Where is the update file? Is it in themeforest/download? What is the name of the file I have to upload?
Can you explain me better step by step what I have to do to update the theme please?
I have always updated the theme with no need to upload a new theme again (with other WP themes)Looking forward to hearing from you
Francesca
October 14, 2019 at 5:03 am #1147699Hi,
You can always download the latest version from from your Themeforest account. You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
If you need help updating then please post WordPress and FTP login details in private, along with a verification that you have backups of the site, and we’ll update for you.
Best regards,
