Hello,
I’m having an issue using Enfold on my site that presents in the following ways:
– On the frontend, the site just loads a white screen with no content.
– In the backend, WordPress works normally but if I navigate to the theme options the following error is displayed: “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” (I haven’t received an email with additional details at the WP admin email address.)If I switch to another theme, the site loads fine, so I’m pretty confident the issue lies in the theme files. I’ve also deactivated all plugins, so this isn’t plugin-related.
I’d really appreciate any help you’re able to provide. Please see the private content section for access details. Thanks in advance!
July 4, 2020 at 12:59 pm #1227906Hey nerodha,
Sorry for the problem. I see that you are running a very old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.7.5) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
RikardJuly 5, 2020 at 8:58 pm #1228083Hi Rikard,
Thanks for the reply. I renamed the previous theme directory to something else, downloaded the latest version of the theme (4.7.5), and uploaded it via FTP, but I’m still getting the same result as described in my original post. Nothing appears to have changed.
July 5, 2020 at 9:06 pm #1228085Hi again. This time, I did get an email from WordPress with additional details that might help troubleshoot this. I’m pasting the email body in the private content section.
Also, strangely, even after downloading the latest version of Enfold (I downloaded it from Themeforest and verified in the version.txt file that it was the right version), in the WordPress backend (and in the email message I provided below) it’s showing the version as the old one (3.0.4). I’m not sure how this can be. I renamed the previous theme directory as bk-enfold_old.
July 6, 2020 at 9:18 am #1228228Hi,
Thanks for the update. I can only see one version of Enfold installed, and that is the old version. You can check that under Appearance->Themes. If you need help with uploading the new version then please include FTP login details in private and verify that you have backups of the site.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 7, 2020 at 1:02 am #1228441Ok, providing the FTP details in the private content field. Yes, I have a backup of the site. Thanks for the help!
