Hey Guys,
I know you’re busy with support tickets, but so many of us have asked for a roadmap/update on things coming up for Enfold and haven’t really seemed to get a solid reply, that I need to ask again. This is important when considering to continue working with Enfold for our clients sites, or if we should move to a theme that is more actively being developed. Don’t get me wrong, i LOVE using Enfold. But it seems the real development has somewhat stalled and mostly now is bug fixes and maintenance – I really hope I’m wrong on this.
For instance, in your blog post of April 2018 (coming up to 3 years ago) Kriesi talked about moving away from shortcodes due to their limitations. Where are we on that?
The same blog post mentioned new demo’s coming, but I don’t think we have seen many new demos for some time now.
Basically, what I’m asking for (and many others seem to want as well) is this: some clear updates as to where Enfold is headed and some timelines of when to expect these changes/features. In other words, concrete reassurance that Enfold is the BEST theme to continue working with and creating new client sites with.
I really hope you can refer this to Kriesi and the rest of the dev team so we can continue to trust in Enfold.
Thanks.
November 30, 2020 at 5:53 am #1263874Hey THP,
Thanks for using Enfold and sorry for the late reply. We are continuously developing and adding new features to the theme. We are currently working on an integration with Elementor as a visual layout builder, but I can’t say when that will be released unfortunately. We are also working on adding new demos, but that hasn’t been a priority lately, but we will of course add new ones in the future.
Since Enfold is now our only product, we are focusing all of our efforts on developing it. I can’t really say if Enfold is the best theme around or not, but it will be maintained and developed for as long as we exist as a company.
I’ve forwarded this thread to Kriesi as well :-)
Best regards,
RikardNovember 30, 2020 at 8:38 am #1263881In principle I would also welcome a vision of where the journey is destined to go.
But if you have ever worked with Elementor, e.g. the theme Jupiter comes along with this editor, you will appreciate the intuitive use of Enfold’s Drag&Drop. – Yes, Elementor is a powerful tool – but I get a similar layout result much faster with Enfold via drag&drop.
Leaving this principle would be completely wrong – it would mean that Enfold would give up a unique selling point.
The majority of users are not web design experts here, who by the way also appreciate the haptic quality, but private users, or at least only small to medium sized companies, who design their sites themselves.
I also get along quite well with Divi Builder, but even here a quick implementation of an own layout is not as possible as it is with Enfold. Not without reason there are 100s of templates that you can import. If you really want to go there and use Elementor – please open a new theme with it and keep Enfold as it is.
If something is missing for non-professionals, it would be the element of dividers.
Those of you who know how to do it, can do it already – and have their own svg instead to style section dividers._______
about bugs and bug-fixes:
it is a fact that a constantly changing world needs to experience new adaptations of proven methods.
The development of a WordPress theme is no exception.
The implementation of the GDPR was such a thing that the developers were approached.
Closing security gaps against constantly new cyber attacks is always a new challenge. WordPress code enhancements have to be adopted and any bugs that arise have to be fixed.I think that the team offers fast and good work also here.
Strangely enough, with Microsoft operating systems, no one gets upset anymore about the fact that bug fixes have to follow all the time. Unfortunately this is also the case with OSX.
November 30, 2020 at 11:31 am #1263906HI guys;
My opinion is that the ease of use of the Enfold theme, helps above all those who create websites for their customers.
It helps them especially when the customer manages his own content because even if he is not a webmaster he can understand how to work.
So no to Elementor which, by the way, is made for professionals as they say “Built for Professionals, From Freelancer to Agency”.
It would be better to implement Enfold with other options and features.
For demos I would like to have something for holiday flats and / or Bed and BreakfastThank’s and regards
LuigiNovember 30, 2020 at 3:28 pm #1263996Hi Rikard & Others,
Thanks for the reply.
I really agree with Gueni007 and BigBatT that the Advanced Layout Builder is one of the key unique selling points for Enfold. In fact, I just referred someone to use your theme over the weekend, and it was the ease of use of the layout builder as compared to Divi, Elementor etc that sold them on it. Obvisouly you have your reasons to integrate Elementor, but please, do not neglect your own ALB – it is the reason I love Enfold and as Gueni007 said, i find it WAY quicker to use than your competitors.
Anyway, I hope Kriesi can consider committing to a clear roadmap and regular updates on where the development is going. For instance, 2021 will be big on Core Web Vitals and it would be great to see any performance improvements that the team are working on (just as an example). Clear, regular, consistent updates would strengthen the confidence of your already loyal customer base (I just bought 6 new licenses over the weekend) and inspire excitement for the theme – leading to more sales, surely.
And while this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-upcoming-fixes/ has been helpful, it hasn’t been updated in 22 days, so again doesn’t really help us stay up to date with the progress behind the scenes.
Regards

December 1, 2020 at 12:22 pm #1264211Hey,
Thanks for your feedback!
Upcoming fixes thread was not updated as our devs are still working on Editable ALB Element Templates feature which is major :)
Cheers!
YigitDecember 3, 2020 at 12:30 pm #1264740Why do you want an integration with eleementor? Eleementor’s code is very bloated, makes the website unnecessarily slow and therefore not good for SEO.
So you don’t come with your own front-end editor, just like Avada did last summer?

December 3, 2020 at 12:43 pm #1264749Since Avada released their 7.0 update, I think Enfold has fallen way behind. For example, Enfold has no frond-end editor, no sticky containers, no custom percentage width for columns, no mobile display order for columns on mobile, no extensive form builder and finally no new demos have been released for a long time.
January 9, 2021 at 11:26 pm #1271257Enfold is awesome, and if you just keep updating it, this theme will have a very long life. The improvement I’d like to see is a re-working of ENFOLD > General Styling. Customizing anything in this area is a guessing game. For example, how would I change the background color of a search box? Only trial-and-error will tell, if you have that much time. Also, we all need better burger menus for mobile. A little work here would go a long way.
Keep up the good work! It’s a great theme.
January 11, 2021 at 4:44 am #1271464Hi macjeffff,
Thanks for the feedback and for using Enfold, it’s much appreciated. We’ll look into the points you made above, to see if we can make any improvements.
Best regards,
RikardApril 25, 2021 at 3:17 pm #1296612Enfold is truly my favourite theme out there.
I can’t stand Avada or many others that I tried. I like elementor, and the way it can go with almost “any” theme, but… nothing beats Avia Layout Builder (I think this is the right name).I am just curious to see what is being done regarding the Core Vitals. This is a concern for me.
May 3, 2021 at 2:13 pm #1298000Hi,
Thanks for your kind words!
We are making performance improvements in almost every release. In the latest version of Enfold we have added srcset to some ALB elements. We will add it to more elements in upcoming versions. We have added lazy load in Enfold 4.7.6.4. For upcoming versions, we have WebP support in our list. We will continue improving the performance so websites score high out of the box but you can use 3rd party plugins to improve your score as well :)
Best regards,
YigitMay 3, 2021 at 2:16 pm #1298001I agree Yigit.
I am really looking forward to seeing new features in the upcoming versions along with performance upgrades.
WebP support is also VERY welcome – bring it on! :)May 3, 2021 at 2:21 pm #1298004Hi,
You can follow up on upcoming changes on this thread – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-upcoming-fixes/ :)
Cheers!
YigitMay 3, 2021 at 3:34 pm #1298031I still would really love to see a roadmap of plans, but thanks for at least letting us know about webp support. On that point, since webp’s new successor AVIF (https://blog.shortpixel.com/what-is-avif-and-why-is-it-good/) is now getting some support, could you consider supporting both when you implement the webp changes?
May 3, 2021 at 3:50 pm #1298035Hi,
Thanks! I have just asked our devs if we could consider AVIF as well and will reply back to this thread with any updates :)
Best regards,
YigitAugust 16, 2022 at 2:29 am #1361747I have worked with Enfold, Avada, and Divi. I find Enfold Avia builder the easiest to work with. I have working with Avada, and don’t like how their container blocks are laid out. Divi is coming along nicely and lots of cool feature and live support as well, which is important for designers. It feels like Enfold development has slowed down a bit. Are there any big updates for 2022?
