I set up a footer for the pages on my site. Added three columns, added one text widget to each widget. Shown below. Initially, it worked fine. I pick up were I left off and review my work this evening to find the links are broken. The site url is preceding the url that I want to link to thus ending up on my site at a page that doesn’t exist. I determine that the http:// has been removed from each widget and correct the code. Refresh, check the site and the issue is still present. Review the widgets again and again the http:// is gone. I remove the text widgets. Refresh, check the site and I see the default settings (links to each page on the site, categories, etc.). I add the text widgets back to the each column footer. Refresh, check the site; the footer bar is present, but it has no content – blank. I check the text widgets and the code is still present and http:// is still present, but again the footer shows no images, no embedded links.

    <p style=”text-align: center;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: center;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: center;”></p>

    Solution?

Well, the code won’t view as written, but it’s still in the footers on the site. You guys have admin rights to the site from previous support requests. User and password are the same.

    Hi primarythoughts!

There isn’t anything on the theme end that does anything with the text widgets so I’m not sure what it might. It isn’t something I’ve ever encountered either but a vague guess would be a plugin that autoformats content. Its a shot in the dark but that would be my main guess.

WordPress by itself shouldn’t be doing that either as long as the html is correct and the auto format for paragraphs check box is unchecked to turn on off wpautop.

    Regards,
    Devin

Where is the auto format for paragraphs check box located?

Nevermind! I got it. Plugins were fine. Something off in the code. Thanks so much for giving me a trouble-shooting checklist!
