    Dear Support,

We recently launched a new Enfold site (19/11/19) – link in private content below.
Our site is multilingual (Dutch and English) and uses WPML.

Since launch, when I look in Google Search Console I keep seeing errors being generated: weird URLs to pages are being “created” that are incorrect and cause 404 errors.
In these (weird) URLs, parts of the URL are repeated, and often parts of Dutch language URL are included on English.
    e.g.: domain/english-url/dutch-rubbish-generated-url
    domain/english-url/english-rubbish-generated-url

The correct URL structure would be:
    NL: domain/dutch-url
    EN: domain/en/english-url

I have previously addressed the existing 404’s – but more keep coming, so there is clearly a continuing issue.

    > Can you please advise me how to fix the site so it stops generating these error URLs?

I’ve built many sites, including with Enfold and WPML, but I’ve never seen or heard of this problem before.
I will greatly appreciate your assistance.

    Hey Gil P-W,

First off, could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.7.2) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. If that doesn’t help then please post admin login details in private along with links to actual problem URLs so that we can have a closer look.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

Many thanks for your reply. I will ask my developers to update the theme now.
May I ask you to take a look at the actual URLs (sent in private content) while I wait for the update?
Just in case it inspires additional advice…
    With thanks,
    Gil

    Dear Support,

We have just updated the Enfold theme on our site to the latest version (this morning) as per your advice.

Could you please now advise me regarding the strange URLs our site is generating?
I sent the actual links in my last private message, and included more new ones in this message.

My question is: what is causing the site to generate URLs with double/multilingual appended in the file path?
(and how can I fix it?)

This issue is causing more and more 404 errors on the site, so your advice will be most welcome.

    Krgds,
    Gil

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing the details. Looking at the URL pattern I assure you that this is not a theme related issue but we will surely help you resolve this.

A plugin conflict may be one of the reasons for this issue.
To find which plugin is causing the conflict please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your plugins page > Deactivate all active Plugins
    2. Update WordPress and Enfold to the latest version if you have not.
    3. Make sure all the plugins are updated.
    4. If the problem does not persist when plugins are turned off, activate one plugin at a time and refresh until you find the plugin in conflict.

We await the results of your plugin compatibility test.

    Thanks for your cooperation :)

    Best regards,
    Vinay
