August 24, 2017 at 3:09 pm #843535if i don’t create a child theme when i’m finished with the web site creation … IF I UPDATE THE THEME IN THE FUTURE … is there a chance that some of my customizations to the theme will no longer work? is this why people make a child theme? how do i go about making an exact copy of my site … then using it as a child theme? thanks! chris August 24, 2017 at 4:07 pm #843559Hey Chris, We recommend using a child theme especially if you are planning to make changes on theme files which will be overwritten when you update the theme. To avoid that, you can use a child theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/ and move modified files to your child theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/add-new-or-replace-advanced-layout-builder-elements-from-child-theme/ Regards,
YigitAugust 25, 2017 at 7:30 pm #844138thanks! which theme files will be overwritten when i update? css? functions.php? search? etc? if they’ll be overwritten … i’m going to be in trouble! i’ll need to convert my main theme to a child theme. thanks! chris August 26, 2017 at 7:22 pm #844412Hi, Your Quick CSS and Enfold options won’t be overwritten, but the functions.php and other php and css files will be overwritten. It would be best if you start using a child theme by following the links that Yigit gave. Cheers!
