I purchased Enfold back in 2014 and now have a problem with it which I really need help with. I can’t update Enfold and the version I’m running is way out of date. I also can’t update WordPress as a new version conflicts with my out of date Enfold theme and the site crashes. If I update Enfold to a newer version it conflicts with my out of date WP and the site also crashes. WP has done an auto update and taken the site down. We’ve managed to recover it via a back up but the back up is from last year and won’t install properly .. not sure why … but it means I can’t edit the site as the admin section doesn’t load properly. I noticed you offer a hosting/install/support service and wanted to know if that’s something I can purchase and if I did would you install WP and the latest version of Enfold for me. I really would appreciate some help with this, things are getting rather desperate.,

Just a bit of backgroubd to this, The website went offline on Monday morning this week ( 5th March ) as the hosting company had a technicak problem While it was down it looks like Worpress did an auto update. When the site came back on line we had a blank white screen. I asked the hosting company for help and they said disable the plug ins and turn them back on one by one as it looked like a plug in conflict error. I disabled the plug ins and the site crashed. As I mentioned we’ve got it back on line albeit in poor shape by using an old back up but can’t edit the site. I’ve asked the hosting company to roll the site back from any newer back ups they have but I’ve now been waiting for three days for them to reply to a support ticket. Not good. Please help if you can. ThanksMarch 8, 2018 at 11:19 am #923745
We sell premium WordPress Themes but we don’t offer hosting services, but we do help our customers as long as it is in the scope of our support, please read our Support Policy
Can you try to switch to a default wordpress theme before updating WordPress, then update Enfold via ftp, you can find the instructions here: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry about the misunderstanding, it was Envato that offers hosting and set up –
For some reason I thought it was you guys.
My worry with trying to update anything on the site is that it will crash again and we’ll be without any site at all. I’m trying to working with the hosting company to restore the site but they’re really not helpful at all.
I’ll either contact Envato or try what you suggested above.
Thanks for your time.March 9, 2018 at 6:46 am #924278
I would suggest having a staging site which is just a duplicate of your live site, you can check this post regarding it: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -for-a-wordpress-site/ this way you can update your stage site first when there’s a wordpress, theme (enfold) or plugin update, check if there are errors or if it breaks your site without affecting your live site, once it’s all good, you can safely update your live site with very less risk.

Hi, I got someone to do as suggested but now we’ve got this error message and we’re stuck
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage23/ze/br/ar/zebraremovals.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold-42/header.php on line 6
I’ve contacted local website companies but nobody wants to get back to me. I’ve tried the hosting company but they also aren’t responding.
Any help at all with this would really be appreciated. I’m going to swtich the site back to a default Wordpres theme for now so the error message won’t be there.

I’ve tried deactivating the plug ins one by one and updating them as required. I deactivated the last one – Yoast and the error message changed. I’ve updated Yoast and it said failed internal server error. Now the error message has changed to The theme directory “enfold-42” does not exist.March 11, 2018 at 9:48 pm #925278
sorry .. we sorted Yoast and we’re back to

Thanks for the link and it was indeed php that needed updating. I employed the help of a brilliant local website company who did it for me and the site’s back up and running, still with some issues but they’re working on it this week to get it back to 100%
The upside to the whole episode is that they also provide a hosting package with maintenace, they’ll do all updates, fix anything that goes wrong and back the site up every week and the server’s faster than the one we’re on. So we now have a new hosting company and someone on board who’ll sort out any issues in the future.
Thanks for the help with this guys, feel free to close the topic.March 12, 2018 at 10:28 pm #925759
