We have had the Enfold theme for 3-4 years but do not know who purchased it originally.
It is asking for a themeforest API key and user name and re-purchased the theme tonight but it does not look like we can update the theme.
We have a lot of content that we do not want to redo when we update but we need to update the theme so we can go to PHP 7.0.
We need to update our site due to site speed issues.
Do you have any suggestions? How do we update the theme?
Hi rwenz
Please describe the following in more detail:
[…] re-purchased the theme tonight but it does not look like we can update the theme.
What happens if you try to update the theme? Do you get an error message or anything like that? Please consider that you need to update manually in order to get Enfold 4.5.x (via FTP for example). It is not possible to update via the WordPress dashboard as you might do usually.
Best,
Michael
Hi rwenz,
Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5 has to be done manually unfortunately, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
Also please read this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/updating-to-enfold-4-5-and-validating-personal-token/
Since you are running a very old version of the theme I would recommend that you update on a staging version of the site first. Also keep proper backups of the site in case something should go wrong.
Best regards,
Rikard
