Hey everybody. I noticed that there seems to be an issue with updating to Enfold 4.5.1 and I’m encountering similar problems after upgrading to WordPress 5.0.
First and foremost, I can’t upgrade to Enfold 4.5.1. because the automatic update returns “Download failed. A valid url was not provided”
More importantly, now the advanced layout builder is gone (as Mike established in his post), which is the real bummer for me.
I’m working with a classic Parent/Child theme configuration; hence, I’m wondering what I should do.
Should I roll back to the previous version of WordPress?
Will a fresh install of Enfold, downloaded from Themeforest resolve the issue? Will the child theme continue to work with a fresh install of the parent theme?
I’m sorry, if my thread is adding to your workload ….
Many thanks for your help
Hey MadRhino,
I’m not sure if I understand you problem, have you or have you not been able to update to 4.5.1? If not then it has to be done manually unfortunately. Please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
Also please read this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/updating-to-enfold-4-5-and-validating-personal-token/
If you have updated and have problems with the builder then you could try to use this plugin to see if it helps: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
Best regards,
Rikard
