Hi guys
I need your help please. We are running Enfold and we got this reported back to us: “the editor is super slow and the preview is not working properly and showing the old version instead of the edit in many cases”.
I had a closer look and spotted there is a console error showing up “Block validation: Block validation failed for `core/shortcode”. Is this causing the preview problem? We never used the Gutenberg editor, but we did activate it since users wanted the newer, fresher look.
The page was built in the classic editor though.slow loading:
could the page size be a problem? the one in this bug report is image heavyCan you please have a look?
All details in the private section. Thanks, BR Jay
August 3, 2021 at 3:48 am #1314035Hi Jay,
Sorry for the late reply. Could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.8.6) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update.

we’ve updated to 4.8.6 but, unfortunately, both issues are still occuring.

August 10, 2021 at 1:04 pm #1316052Hi,
Thanks for the update. I tried logging into your site, but the password link doesn’t display a password anymore. Please check it, or post a regular text password here in private instead.

August 13, 2021 at 4:32 am #1316501Hi Jay,
Thanks for that. I can’t see what is going wrong with the preview of that page unfortunately, does it make any difference if you disable all plugins? Also please consider updating to the latest version of the theme (4.8.6.1).

RikardAugust 17, 2021 at 2:27 pm #1317169Hi Rikard,
I’ve disabled (and then again enabled) all plugins but the error in the console of the page in question is still there either way.
I can’t reproduce the issue with the post/page preview currently either – a theme update might have taken care of it already. The page is still, inexplicably, broken though and we’re not sure what happened or how to fix it without having to rebuild the whole thing.
I’ve included an image link of the console error.
Best regards
August 18, 2021 at 6:48 am #1317267Hi,
Thanks for the update. I created a test page and tried to copy the shortcodes block by block. The first Tab Section seems to be the problem, or at least one of the problems. Could you try recreating that on the test page, then copy over the rest of the blocks to see if that works? I can’t see any error messages on the test page.

Thanks for your feedback.
Update: to get rid of the console error, I had to remove all of the tabs from the tab section. It does not matter if I delete from the beginning of the tab bar to the end or the other way round. I have to conclude, the error just disappears if all are deleted. What can we conclude from there?BR, Jay
August 24, 2021 at 12:59 pm #1318122Hi Jay,
Thanks for the update. I don’t know what to conclude from this unfortunately, since we haven’t seen this problem happening before. When the Layout Builder breaks in other situations, then it’s almost always due to open html markup in the content. I couldn’t see anything like that in your content though. Did you try to recreate the element? If you want to, then it might be a good idea to try and create that particular section in a separate page, then copy the shortcodes in after your are done. Doing it that way might compartmentalise the problem a bit more.

RikardAugust 25, 2021 at 1:59 pm #1318292Hi Rikard
I have another update on that topic.
I tried to narrow down the error by deleting element after element in this site – now most of the page is empty, but the error is still there – please have a look at the link below.
I ve ended up getting another (3rd) console error while above mentioned site was still in draft. I will add a screenshot link below.
I have no idea how to investigate this any further unfortunately.BR, Jay
August 25, 2021 at 2:08 pm #1318297One more update. Why does wordpress want to validate elements I have deleted already?
August 27, 2021 at 5:57 am #1318568Hi Jay,
Thanks for the update. I really don’t know why you are getting those errors, but it might be related to the auto save function in WordPress. That is just me guessing though, I don’t really have proof for that. Anyway, I created a new test page and copied the content over from the pages with the errors, and the errors disappear after that, please see private.
I know you said that you want to use the Gutenberg editor, but it might be a good idea to try and set it to the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options, for testing purposes. You could also try installing this plugin, which would enable you to delete WordPress transients: https://wordpress.org/plugins/transients-manager/
Best regards,
