    Hi Gunter,

Is your above reply to me? (Because the problem still exists.)

    #1023017

That’s not where my issue is saying there is an issue. And I have tried with v4.4 not 4.4.5

    #1023077

FYI I have now also tried installing manually over ftp version 4.2.3 and still getting error – this time: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /home/**/public_html/testsite/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/config.php on line 627
What version do I need to go back to for PHP 5.5 to be ok? The version that was loaded before I went to update was working, but not sure what version that was… Or do you think my errors are something else?

    #1023144

    Hi,

    @saucyhotdesign
if your server is using PHP 5.5 that could explain the issue, we have been recommending v5.6 for a while and v5.4 does cause errors, but v5.5 is iffy.
I believe you are going to want Enfold v4.3, I will link it for a day or two.

    Best regards,
    Mike

So, any resolution for my version of this problem? Or, should I just wait for the next Enfold version?

    #1024251

    Hi,

    @laptophobo
I will ask @Gunter to take another look, but It like there is not a WP admin login, I do see the ftp login & the site url. Please include WP login as it may help.
    Thanks for your patience.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #1024264

I am having the same problem, but with a different error. I tried the plug-in, activated it, then tried the update. It failed.
I then renamed the Enfold theme folder to EnfoldX, and tried the update of the new theme. I got the following error: The link you followed has expired.

What’s going on and why is this suddenly so difficult? I have multiple client accounts using Enfold and this has always been simple and easy. It’s one of the reasons I use Enfold. Do I have to FTP every site I have? Even then, I am losing a bit of confidence.

    Mike,

I had provided the FTP and site info on the previous page of this thread. Please see the info in Private content. Also, I’ve downloaded a fresh copy of Enfold 4.4.5 from Themeforest. I’m still getting an error message. This time it is this one:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting variable (T_VARIABLE) or ${ (T_DOLLAR_OPEN_CURLY_BRACES) or {$ (T_CURLY_OPEN) in /home/brokenno/public_html/grasp/wp-content/themes/enfold/includes/admin/register-backend-advanced-styles.php on line 796

    Hi,

    @laptophobo

Your file enfold/includes/admin/register-backend-advanced-styles.php was corrupted again. I uploaded the correct file.

    @rogersparks

Envato changed the download API and restricted the use of the old API for downloads, therefore autoupdates will not work any longer in versions < 4.5. We integrated the new API with personal token in version 4.5 - but you will need to update to this version with ftp once. Please delete (!!!) the folder enfold before uploading the new version. After registering the personal token and adding it to the theme update tab in Enfold options autoupdates should work as before. Best regards, Günter

    #1024344

    Hi Gunter,
I don’t know how that after 3 complete new uploads of Enfold 4.4.5 (each time, I downloaded a fresh version from Envato) that the file you are referring to would be corrupted–unless the Enfold version at Envato is corrupted. Also, the original download I took 2 days ago worked fine on my local host sites (though not on my web hosted sites). But, I’ve gone ahead and followed your instructions nonetheless.

So, here is what I have done after following your most recent instructions to me:

Keeping the enfold 4.4.5 folder in my themes location (because you had replaced a file in there and I did not want to lose it), I then deleted the previous “enfold” theme folder completely. Then I renamed “enfold 4.4.5” to “enfold”, which should have activated it as it has all the other times I’ve done this procedure. This also crashed my site.
So, I then renamed the new “enfold” theme folder back to “enfold 4.4.5” and then uploaded a fresh version of the Enfold theme, with the file name as “enfold” and STILL no change. I even changed the “enfold/includes/admin/register-backend-advanced-styles.php” file with the one you said you had changed, and that did not work.

So, in the end, I uploaded an archived version of enfold 4.4.1. to my site and deleted the 4.4.5 version. BUT THIS OLD VERSION also crashed my site.
I am now in the process of (attempting) to restore a complete website backup from days before in an attempt to get this site back up.

I need to resolve this problem. I have 11 more websites using Enfold and I need to have some sort of working system that I can use to update these sites.

If you will, I have another active website that you can attempt an update to. This “Grasp” website that I had you look at can’t be down any longer. So, I will need to give you the new FTP information for this other new site. Please advise.

    #1024353

    Hi,
Ok, I understand that you are going to restore this site and you would like us to update a different site.
I’m thinking that you should open your own thread to provide the login info for the new site, because I notice this is not your thread and any info in the Private Content area can be seen by the owner of this thread.

Please include WordPress login and FTP login, in the Private Content area, to the site you want us to update.
a link to the new thread here would be helpful.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Helly all,
this way is really not very customer friendly. I’m familiar with the procedure, but the Avada guys for instance did a lot better then. Too bad for an otherwise outstanding theme like Enfold.

Registration of the token does not work smoothly either. It loads forever and ultimately the process stops and no token is registered.
I have to do that soon for many websites, I hope there may still be a fix for the conversion.

    Best regards
    Focke

    #1024935

I am very annoyed right now. Correctly generated the token, used it in the enfold update tab, waited forever and then this:

Last time we checked the token we were not able to connected to Envato:
    Purchases could not be accessed
Username could not be accessed (needed for your information only)
E-Mail could not be accessed (needed for your information only)

    What a trouble …

    Thanks for any help!

    Best regards
    Focke

    #1024936

    Hey

    @kreazwo
Our devs suspect that Envato stores cookies with login data/connection data in the browser and therefore might block requests. If that happens to be the case, please try validating your personal token in incognito mode – https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

    Cheers!
    Yigit

    #1025083

    Hey thanks a lot,
I solved it by revoking the themeforest API settings and deleting the browser cookies. Hope that will go faster with all the other installations.

    Best regards
    Focke

    #1025107

    Hi,

    @kreazwo
Glad it worked for you! :)

We will keep the thread open and will wait to hear from the creator of this thread. If you have any other questions or issues, please feel free to start a new thread.

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    #1025254

I’m wondering what @kreazwo did to fix the problem. Mine might be related. What are the step-by-step procedures please.

If I go to Envato/Themeforest site and download (yet another) copy of enfold 4.4.5, should I be staring with a clean browser (or have my Chrome browser incognito mode?)
Once I download this new copy, do I need to go into my website’s Theme Options and delete the “Your Themeforest API Key” key content?

Really, Enfold folks. You need to resolve this problem and make it CRYSTAL CLEAR (like you are speaking to a 5 year old) about how to now upgrade the enfold theme. It’s been a week now of my going back and forth and I’m not getting any real help. I may only have a dozen or so active websites with the Enfold theme, but I would hope that I would be prioritized by now.

    Thanks in advance.

    #1025481

Hello-are you fixing this update 4.5 problem so we can update normally? I barely can function in wordpress as it is so don’t think I can manually update. Please advice. Thank you! Lori

    #1025745

    Hi,

    @lrobbins303
after updating to v4.5 you should be able to update normally in the future, please try to follow these steps to update or open a new thread with your admin login & FTP access in the Private Content area and I will update for you.
As this is not your thread your login info will not be private. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Here are the steps to update with the plugin to assist.
1: please install the plugin: Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
    2018-10-20-104358
2: then go to WordPress > Themes > Add New > Upload
    2018-10-20-104649 2018-10-20-105401
3: after the install, click “Return to Themes page” (NOT Activate)
    2018-10-20-105705
    4: success:

Thanks Mike for your response. I got to step 2 in the 2nd picture above and I didn’t see an option to “choose file”. Am I suppose to download the 4.5 first? If so, can you give me directions on how to find the current enfold download file please? I logged into themeforest envato and clicked on downloads but I think this might be the wrong version.
    Thank you! Lori

    #1026049

mike – well I did see the option to choose zip file in step #2. The download file I get from themeforest/envato is called:
themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip. Is this correct and is this what I select in step # 2 above?
    Thanks, Lori

    #1026185

    Hi,
Please open or extract the file “themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip” inside of it is another zip called “enfold.zip” that is the correct one to upload.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #1026367

Thanks Mike for all your help!! I think I got it and got the token entered correctly too. Lori

    #1026463

    Hi,
That’s great news! Thanks for using Enfold.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #1026695

    Hi!

I installed the new theme as described by Mike and it worked.
Now, how does this impact my Enfold Child theme which I previously used? Please note that in this moment, I just installed the new Enfold theme without activating it because i’m afraid I will get into all sorts of problems like described in this thread.
Also, after installing, and after I get it activated (also after I understand how to manage the Enfold Child theme in this scenario), do I have to generate a new API key from the themeforest platform? And to introduce it again the the tab allocated for it..?

    Thanks,
    Andreea

    #1026702

    Hi Andreea

Let me try to answer your questions here.

how does this impact my Enfold Child theme which I previously used?
It should not impact your child theme at all. Your uploaded Enfold theme is your parent theme and your child theme is separate, so the file you uploaded only affects your parent theme. You should activate your child them

Also, after installing, and after I get it activated do I have to generate a new API key from the themeforest platform?
Yes exactly, you need a different private key by Envato for every site. I recommend going to a private mode (incognito mode) window in your browser and do it there. This should work properly and you are all set afterwards.

And to introduce it again the the tab allocated for it..?
    Jep.

    Best,
    Michael

    #1026703

Ok. Did that and seems that the new key is registered in the Enfold theme.
Now, I reactivated the Child theme but this one seems to still have the old api key. The message I see in the Child is: “No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.5)” but then there is a warning “Attention: The old Envato API is deprecated and will be shut down soon. In order to be able to use automated theme updates please generate a new valid API token and enter it above. Your themeforest username and your old API key will then be removed from your installation since they are no longer required.”
Should I reenter the same key I generated and used in the Enfold theme?

    #1026711

In fact the new api key didn’t work also in the main theme :(
I rechecked now and reintroduced it in incognito mode but the following message appears:
Last time we checked the token we were not able to connected to Envato:

    Purchases could not be accessed
Username could not be accessed (needed for your information only)
E-Mail could not be accessed (needed for your information only)
    Following errors occured:

Purchases: Errorcode 403 returned by Envato: Forbidden
username Errorcode 403 returned by Envato: Forbidden
email Errorcode 403 returned by Envato: Forbidden
Purchases: A problem occured accessing your purchases. Unable to check for updates.

Maybe I need to revoke the older keys from Envato? To have only one active?!

    #1026720

Please activate the child theme first.
If done, enter the Envato private key on your child theme – not the parent theme.

    In addition:
Did you set the permissions via Envato for your private key properly? If not, please check https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-registration

    #1026982

    Hi,
@michaelH thanks for assisting, @andressa_mero did correcting the permissions help?

    Best regards,
    Mike
