Hi, I’ve been looking for a solution to my problem, but I can’t get any further:

I set up a WordPress website with Enfold for a real estate agent. The customer processes his real estate offers himself. The offers are created as portfolio entries and integrated on the offer page via a sortable portfolio grid.

Here’s the problem: the permalinks of the portfolio entries behave “strangely”, i.e. “https://www.****.de/?portfolio=gastronomie-%c2%b7-dortmund-3-3-2-3-2-3-3-2-2-2-3-2”. The numbers at the end varify, i.e. “https://www.****.de/?portfolio=gastronomie-%c2%b7-dortmund-3-3-2-3-2-3-3-2-2-2-3” and so on. I checked the permalink settings for portfolio entries: “portfolio-item” and “portfolio_entries”.

When I asked my customer, I found out that he had created a portfolio entry once and then always duplicated the entries using the “Yoast Duplicate Post” plugin. I guess that’s where the wild number combinations in the permalink come from?!?? But: where do the keywords “gastronomie” and “dortmund” come from in the permalinks? These tags or categories are not used anywhere?!?

If I copy the content of an existing portfolio entry and use it to create a new draft, the following permalink is displayed in the draft phase: “https://www.***.de/?post_type=portfolio&p=2769” But once the draft is published, the same problem as described above.

Is there a possibility to change the permalinks of the portfolio entries? The permalink field is grayed out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey Carsten,

Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi mel6661,

Thanks for giving us admin access.
You can actually change the permalink by going first in Settings > Permalinks > use Post Name
In your site it’s Einstellungen > Permalinks > use Beitragsname then save.
Edit the portfolio item’s permalink, hope this helps :)

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hey Nikko,

Thanks for the hint. I was planning to make the URLs more SEO friendly anyway. I’ll try this out over the Easter holidays and then give feedback.

    Best, mel6661
