    Hello Kriesi Support Team

    I am working on performance on one of my client’s websites. When I activate the CSS file merging and compression option it cuts out all images that are loaded into the background via css.

    If you look at the website, it is the shapes we are loading into the background on the main page and also if you click on the images in Team, References, and Downloads. The shape, which it loads in the background there also disappears.

    It is loaded via

    background-image: url(/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/overlay-01-1.png);

    Thanks so much for your help.
    All the best,
    Corina

    Hey Corina,

    Thank you for using Enfold.

    The background images displayed properly when I checked both sites. Could you provide a screenshot from imgur or dropbox?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael

    Below some links:

    Dev Server with CSS Compression enabled:

    Live Server with CSS Compression disabled:

    It’s only in the Ajax Overlay where it doesn’t seem to load it.
    Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

    I can still see the shape on both sites including those inside the ajax portfolio. Did you disable the theme’s compression on the dev site? I noticed that the Autoptimize plugin is enabled.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael

    That is strange. I am looking at it in Safari, Chrome and Firefox all latest release and it doesn’t show it to me inside the Ajax portfolio.

    The theme’s compression is not disabled on the dev site, I enabled it, as I need to compress whatever I can and cache, as the client is heavily complaining about loading speed. I now disabled Autoptimize to see if that would make a difference, but it doesn’t.

    It works as soon as I undo the CSS compression. But if I switch on the CSS compression, it does not load the shape into the background via css. So I would like to know why it is cutting out the css when I enable compression?

    I created a login for you on the dev site, if you’d like to have a look. Also if you have any suggestions on how to improve on the loading speed, I am very grateful.

    Thanks so much & all the best,
    Corina

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

    This is what I see on Windows 7 Chrome and Opera.

    Have you tried it on another network or computer?

    Hi Ismael

    Strangest thing. I checked on my husband’s laptop now and it is working you are correct. Thanks so much for looking at this.

    One more question. What else can I do to speed up the website (ie reduce loading time) besides the things I already did, which is:

    // Image Optimizier
    // Enfold Performance
    // Caching Plugin

    The client is not happy with the loading speed and tells me the website is broken.

    Any additional tips you may have I am very grateful.
    Thanks so much.
