For a week now, when I have tried to go in to make edits to my client’s website, I am having multiple new difficulties I never had prior.
1. I am finding that when I click on a page to edit, I am getting the spinning wheel in the Avia Layout Builder. I can’t click on the ‘Default Editor’ – it does nothing. It has been suggested to me to deactivate plugins. I have tried this. It works sometimes and not other times.
2. When the Avia editor is working, I go to save changes and it won’t update. As soon as I click on ‘Update’ I am directed straight to my Posts page and none of the changes were saved.
Admittedly, the page was a mess when I took over it. For some reason I can not update PHP – it’s running a hardened version which I can’t change. I can’t update the WordPress version due to another error coming up saying it failed. However, despite those two problems (not being able to update PHP or WordPress) I was always able to update pages and do all the work required. However, as stated above – for the last week or so, I haven’t been able to do a single thing.
I am getting really frustrated and can’t move forward for my client. Does someone have some help?
Thank you so much in advance,
Jasmine.
February 1, 2021 at 10:47 am #1276729Hey Jasmine,
I see that you are running a very old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.7.6.4) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
You need to update WordPress to a current version as well, and the minimum supported PHP version is 7.2. We can’t support any outdated versions of either WordPress or PHP unfortunately.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
Rikard -
