I have a license for Enfold for my current website (which I have not updated since 2017) – it really hasn’t been used/updated in years. I now need to move all this site content to a new domain.

    Current site says: Theme Updates
No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.0.7)
I am running an Enfold Child Theme.

I have read your instructions on updating Enfold from really old versions and am about to do that. I have already downloaded the files from Envato. I gather that takes me to 4.5 and then I need to make a token to go further. I would like to extend Enfold support first so I can ask for assistance during this process if necessary.

I am planning to use a plugin to duplicate and move all site content to the new domain. So I don’t really want to download the new theme and start over – I hope to keep all my current site settings/child theme/etc. if that is possible by just updating the theme.

I am fine with buying another license for the new domain. But it looks like this token thing is going to be complicated . Can you help me with the right sequence? I really want to keep all my current site settings/child theme/etc. intact if possible.

Should I just extend support for my current license on old site then update theme on that domain so I can do a backup of site and move to new domain? If so, how do I get the new license info into the new (migrated) site? Or do I buy the new license for new domain before I transfer?

Or should I only update as far as I can without the token, move the site and then continue?
BTW I also have an old version of wordpress on the existing domain which I planned to update on the new domain after I transferred it. (WordPress 4.8.17) So I don’t know how far I can go updating Enfold with that version of WordPress.

This isn’t a money thing – I am fine with buying support on either domain, adding a new license, or both of those things. I am just looking for a way to make this process as simple as possible.
    Can you advise please?
    Thanks

    Hey Joye,

The update to 4.8.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating, and export the theme settings, so that you have a backup of that as well.

You don’t have to worry about the licensing/token until you have moved your site. Once that is done, then please follow this:

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

You can extend your support period at Themeforest.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
