Hi, I have a couple of sites that are currently using Avisio and I feel it is time to move to Enfold. I will use a Child Theme with Enfold but the current Avisio sites do not have child themes.
What is the best way to customise the sites under Enfold but still have the current Avisio sites running until I am ready to make the change? I have seen refernce to a plugin called WP Theme Test but wanted check your recommended process.
Thanks
Andrew

Thank you for contacting us.
To migrate your site without any downtime please do the following:
1. Set up a maintenance mode page.
2. Once your site is up and running you can change the homepage. Please refer to this article for more info.

Thank you for your reply but unless I am misunderstanding the link is referring to site migration from one host to another and using a maintenance mode page will take my site off line.I am wanting to just change themes from your old Avisio theme to Enfold. Enfold will need to be configured and while doing the configuration work keep my Avisio based site live until ready to switch over to the Enfold theme. I have seen reference to WordPress Customizer and some plugins to help with this process but looking for guidance from the theme creators to the best way to do this.

I think the easiest way to do that would be to create the new site on either a staging site or local installation, then simply transfer it when you are done. I’m not aware of any solutions which lets you run two themes at the same time unfortunately.

Best regards

I’m not familiar with that plugin unfortunately, this has worked well for me in the past though if you want to give it a go: https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/

RikardFebruary 9, 2019 at 11:15 am #1064913I will take a look at that Rikard, thanks.
One final question. If I opted to simply change themes on my live site and put a maintenance page up while configuring Enfold is it a straight forward change without any major problems. The site I am looking to change over to Enfold is just for my group of golfing pals and not a commercial site.
Best regards
Andrew
