Hi Enfold Team!
Is there a way to modify the LayerSlider width so it’s not full screen? I changed the slider dimensions, but when you increase/decrease the size of the computer screen, the slider goes full screen. I’m trying to align it with the photos underneath.
Also, is there a way to modify the placement of the text over the photos in the photos underneath the slider? I want the text to be in the lower right corner.
Thanks in advance!
May 21, 2018 at 8:57 pm #959968Hey allyson3,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

I’d also like to add a drop shadow to the text over the photos if possible.
May 23, 2018 at 6:50 pm #961079Hi,
Thanks for the info. The site is running on a very old version of the theme, 3.8.4. Please upgrade to version 4.4.
You can only adjust the slider canvas width but the default parent container will always be full width.

IsmaelMay 23, 2018 at 7:06 pm #961109The Enfold theme isn’t actually showing up in the dashboard, so how do I get the latest update?
And what’s the best way to update the theme without losing any content and customizations?
May 24, 2018 at 4:54 pm #961688Hi allyson3,
You will not lose any content when updating the theme, but please make a backup anyway. You need to download a fresh copy from Themeforest and upload it via FTP.

VictoriaMay 25, 2018 at 4:04 am #961937Victoria,
I have several questions…
1) I’m on a Managed WordPress hosting plan via GoDaddy and my plan includes daily backups, and while I cannot access them; I can restore them if needed. I also have UpDraft Plus and have created a backup. Is that sufficient?
2) I just discovered that my client did not set up a child theme. This is a staging site that was provided to me to with some content. I’ve only changed some minors things in theme options page (colors, fonts, etc.) and added a few lines of code in the Quick CSS field.
3) I’d like to create a child theme now, but I’m struggling to get all my changes to transfer over (via Child Theme Configurator). It appears that all the content has been copied, but none of my changes via the Enfold Theme Options were saved to the child theme (i.e. logo, colors, sidebar settings, etc.). How do I do that? (And no, I have not activated the theme yet.)
4) When I’m ready to import the updated version of Enfold, is there a reason I can’t do it via WordPress? And if not, can you send me exactly what I need to do?
Thank you in advance!
May 28, 2018 at 8:48 am #962979Hi,
Thanks for the update.
1.) Yes, that should be sufficient.
2-3) The theme options and quick css modifications should be retained on update but we do recommend a child theme. You can move the current theme options to the child theme automatically.
// https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#why-child-theme
4.) We’re not sure why the update is not visible on your theme options. Please try to remove the transients. If it doesn’t work, you will have to manually update the theme via FTP.

May 30, 2018 at 8:27 pm #964483Hi,
I removed all those long error messages form there forum.
Please upload somewhere where we can review properly.
Pastebin could work.Best regards,
BasilisMay 31, 2018 at 5:03 pm #964838Shoot Basilis. Now I can’t find the document with the error message. I must not have saved it after all. Did you happen to save it?
Most of the errors were related to the LayerSlider.
Do I need to try to update the theme again? Or???
June 4, 2018 at 3:28 pm #966547Hi allyson3,
Are you not able to update the theme? Which version of php are you running?

VictoriaJune 8, 2018 at 2:24 am #969904Victoria,
I just called and learned that GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting can only support up to PHP 5.6, at the moment. Could this be the issue?
And if so, what should I do?

The slider works fine, except I was told above that in order to adjust the width (not full screen), I needed to update the theme. I cannot seem to update from 3.8.4 to 4.4 without getting multiple errors, which crash the site.
GoDaddy says it’s 5.6, so I’m not sure if it’s 5.6.3. What do you mean by “it’s still okay for a while?”
June 12, 2018 at 6:05 am #971526Hi,
What are the errors when you update the theme to 4.4? This is quite normal because a lot has changed since that version. Please update the theme regularly or every time a new patch is available to avoid the same situation in the future.

June 14, 2018 at 3:27 am #972580Hi,
Thanks for the update.
We won’t be able to see or reproduce the errors if you don’t update the theme to the latest version. You may need to set your site to maintenance mode temporarily while we inspect the errors. Did you add any modifications to the parent theme?

IsmaelJune 17, 2018 at 11:27 pm #974050Ismael and team,
I just created a NEW staging site with child theme… which resolved all the issues! FYI.
Now, let’s get back to my original questions…
1 ) Is there a way to modify the LayerSlider width so it’s not full screen? I changed the slider dimensions, but when you increase/decrease the size of the computer screen, the slider goes full screen. I’m trying to align it with the photos underneath.
2) Is there a way to decrease the white space between the photos below the slider (I want the left/right width to match the top/bottom width)?
3) Is there a way to modify the placement of the text over the photos in the photos underneath the slider? For example, can I move the text to the lower right corner?
4) Can I add a drop shadow to the text over the photos?
5) Why is the word “Collections” (second row, second photo) not centered?
June 18, 2018 at 1:02 pm #974223Hi allyson3,
Is it on the new server or the same place? Most of these can be adjusted in the Layer Slider.
If it’s a different server, please provide access to it.

June 18, 2018 at 3:35 pm #974313Hi allyson3,
I thought you updated the theme.
Could you please attach a mockup of what you’re trying to achieve?

VictoriaJune 18, 2018 at 11:56 pm #974543Victoria,
I created a new staging site, uploaded the current theme version and created a child theme… and I’ve included login credentials in my previous post.
I am trying to make the slider the same width as the four photos below it (as well as the other 4 items listed in my post above).June 19, 2018 at 7:49 pm #974896Hi allyson3,
Have you seen the text in private? I attached the screenshots of the settings you can adjust to tweak the slides.
Best regards,
VictoriaJune 20, 2018 at 2:41 pm #975323Thanks Victoria,
Changing the slider width there doesn’t work, because the width is not permanent (i.e. when you change your browser window width, the white space to the left and right of the slider disappears).
I NEED the slider to retain the same left and right margins as the photos below. Is that possible?
Also, I am referring to being able to add a drop shadow to the text over the photos BELOW the slider, not IN the slider.
Again… here are my issues…
June 21, 2018 at 5:06 am #975657Hi,
1.) The layer slider that is included in the theme will always be full width. You can’t set the width manually or embed it in a different container such as columns. This is only possible when you purchased the plugin or when you have a plugin API key and use the layer slider as a stand alone plugin.
If you have any additional questions at this time we kindly ask that you open them up in a separate thread. The longer threads get in the forum, they become more difficult to support as they tend to drift off topic and they also make it troublesome for users trying to search for solutions. Keeping threads relevant to their original inquiry ensures that we can keep better track of what has been resolved and that users can more effectively find answers to similar issues they might be experiencing.
Thanks!
