I have never had a theme that couldn’t install, but now I do. If this is an indication of how things are going to work with this theme I think I will need to move to another theme. I will give this one try but I am a bit pessimistic at this point.
Installing theme from uploaded file: themeforest-y9PX3F8H-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip
Unpacking the package…Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.
February 25, 2023 at 12:41 am #1399200I ended up installing via FTP which seems to have allowed me to complete the install, and I installed and activated the child theme. Now I need to find where the dummy data is that I can install so I’m not working from scratch.
February 25, 2023 at 5:15 am #1399216Hi dmwesq,
To add dummy data, you can import our demo first so you don’t need to start from scratch.
Go to Enfold > Demo Import, then find the demo you want to use and import it.With regards to your first comment, you can use these steps:
1. Login to ThemeForest and download the Enfold theme, right-click over the downloaded zip file and extract/unzip it.
2. It should generate a new folder, open it and look for the enfold folder
3. Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip)Best regards,
NikkoFebruary 26, 2023 at 10:23 pm #1399354Is this demo import different than the steps in this tutorial on your site:
The video on this page shows installing dummy data after installing the theme by doing so in the settings. You are suggesting I delete the theme installation and reinstall one of the demos? Or am I deleting the child theme and trying to use the demo in place of the child theme? Very confusing instructions
February 26, 2023 at 10:31 pm #1399356I get an error message each time I try to download a demo following your instructions. So far all I get are error messages and nothing about this theme seems to work.
February 26, 2023 at 10:42 pm #1399357Hi,
The reason your zip file themeforest-y9PX3F8H-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip didn’t install was because it was the full theme with documentation, Nikko was trying to explain how to find the Installable directory in your zip file.
In your Theme Forest account there a two downloads, one is the full zip with documentation, and the other is the Installable WordPress file only this is the zip you should install.
This is also explained in our documentation TROUBLESHOOT ▸ Missing style sheet error
Once you install the theme you should go to Enfold Theme Options ▸ Demo Import and choose the demo to import.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 26, 2023 at 10:57 pm #1399359I understand the initial installation and I followed the instructions on how to extract the Enfold theme, which I did. I also was able to then install the child theme, which is what is recommended. However, having done that, I still get error messages when I try to install any demo file saying the download of the demo didn’t work.
February 27, 2023 at 12:12 am #1399363Hi,
Sometimes this occurs when a hosting server blocks our domain, kriesi.at, check with your host.
Some hosts like OVH disable the set_time_limit() function and will not enable it so the import times out, check with your host.
Also check your PHP settings to see if the secure options are activated. If “allow_url_fopen, “allow_url_include” and “register_globals” are “off” then try turning these “on”.
If neither of these are the case, please see our documentation on How to manually import a theme demo our demos are installed via the basic WordPress import feature, a xml file import.Best regards,
