We are using Enfold and the Contact Us widget. Recently we were called by a client after we failed to respond to their email written using the Contact Us widget on our website. The customer forwarded the bounced email and we sent it to Google for review. According to Google’s support team the email was bounced due to a server-side script that is triggering a DMARC error which causes Yahoo to flag the email as bad because it did not originate from or match the Yahoo user’s email entered into the Contact Us form.

    How can this be fixed?

Google Support’s Explanation of the Issue:
Thank you for your reply. This could be expected behavior for clients using Yahoo, sending inquiries to you through the web form.
From looking at the message header provided in the error message, I looked up the email logs in the Admin console. The Google Servers are seeing the message coming from SRS0=XiTO=EC (Email address hidden if logged out) where as the actual From address is (Email address hidden if logged out) . This is due to the way the web server generating these forms is configured, causes the sender information to be modified so the sender domain is replaced with server info.Yahoo has configured DMARC policy https://support.google.com/a/answer/2466580?hl=en which tells other mail systems to REJECT https://dmarcian.com/dmarc-inspector/yahoo.com any message that has their yahoo.com address in the From field, but in fact is sent by some one else (that is in fact potential spoofing of yahoo address as (From address is different that than actual sender’s address).
The only way yo fix it, is by modifying the script on the sending server to ensure that senders info (return path) matches address listed in the From: field.

    Hi davevi!

Your having trouble receiving emails correct? First off do the troubleshooting steps here, http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/my-contact-form-is-not-sending-emails/.

In your problem description there is mention of the “From” field so if you need to change that then see step #5 in the link.

    Regards,
    Elliott

Elliott it’s clear to me there is more to this issue than you might believe. It appears that the Enfold script is clashing with new rules set up by Yahoo and supported and enforced by Google. None of the items in the link you sent change the behavior of your script and there are no options in your Contact Us widget other than placement, fields and the “send from” name.

It’s an issue with your script.

…and please keep in mind that email was working fine until recently. No changes were made to our website, other than to update to the latest Enfold theme. However, this issue did not occur just after upgrading the theme’s code.

    Please advise.

Still no answer to my support request. What is the proper period to wait for a response for support here?

Yesterday an update to Enfold was released and in the release notes there is a single line about email issues. Will this fix my issue?
