    Thanks for the update. The entry title is an h1 on the page now, so you might want to change the first header back to an h2 again?

    I wanted to send a screen shot but not aware of how. I ran a speed test. But used a tool to locate the h1 I believe I see. Tell me please what you see?

    There is only one h1 on your home page right now, and that is the home link on the left hand side in the breadcrumbs container. If you want to send us screenshot then you can upload them to a service like Dropbox or Google Drive, then link to them here.

    This is a snippet of the code below from my Homepage. It is what appears in the body. Until I changed the h1 to an h2 yesterday (or day before) this Home page of my website was missed. That’s huge! This speaks to what I’ve been saying about h1 vs h2 in my webpages. There is a glitch in the theme. I have to begin all posts with h2 otherwise my Yost SEO Plugin tells me I have an error.
    This site was created years ago but the theme was only updated about a month ago. Let me know how we can proceed.

    1st let me say I don’t have the skills you have so thank you for working with me! The h1 we discussing needs to be removed. Each time I create a web page it needs to start with an h1 But that conflicts immediately with the h1 in the breadcrumbs …

    Remove this h1 please.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update. We’ve based our choice of giving the page title an h1 tag on this article: https://yoast.com/how-to-use-headings-on-your-site/. Which states that the title of the page should use an h1 tag. I’m no SEO expert, but if I was in your situation, then I would follow the advice that Yoast is giving here. If you are going to use breadcrumbs, then I think it would be better if you used an h2 tag for your first manually added header instead.

    If you still want to change the breadcrumb then I will look for a solution for you.

    That is an outstanding article! Thank you very much for sharing. Fortunately I’ve been using that Yoast SEO plug in for years so I’ve grown to know how to set things up right. Except for this area we’re discussing. So I do want you to remove that h1 in the breadcrumbs. My expertise in web mastering (or lack) I don’t know what effect it will have on the look of the site but I need you to please remove it.

    I want to be able to set each web page up properly structurally speaking. h1 at top & then a hierarchy based on content using mix of h1/h2’s

    Thanks for the update. Please add this to your functions.php file to set the h1 tag to a span instead:

    I added a child theme. I added the code snippet you sent me to functions.php and paste the code at the bottom of that file. I’m assuming we’re good to go. It would mean a tremendous amount to me if you could check my work and let me know were good to go. I’m assuming this was all that needed to be done.

    Site is looking real good lately with all the additions/changes I’ve been making. However my site traffic is almost to 0! I believe it the duplicate h1’s so I appreciate all the help!

    I lost the customization of my site when I added the Child theme. A tremendous amount of work lost. What can I do here? The website is one continuous page too if you notice it scrolls forever. What a complete cluster! Even though I selected the front page as static page. It shows me a page about trauma.

    This is not going well at all & I’m not happy.This is exactly what I was afraid of. This is my worst nightmare! This is where I’m also calling on your expertise where to go from here? What can be done here?

    Update. Using Child theme/ (Child Theme Configurator plug in) I’ve successfully re-imported most content.

    What you can help me with is the same thing you helped me with when we started talking in November. You did an awesome job simply setting up the right color scheme for the menu keys & their drop down and the mobile menu. Under my About Tab & Services tab there are sub menus …

    I got the Home button back in the menu area but it’s barely visible.

    Rikard if you could simply repeat what you did I’m good to go. I recreated most things but the color is throwing me off.

    Very simple I need help with the mobile menu. Use Incognito browser and access my site. There are no menu keys! Help me get the buttons to show including the sub menu options under About & Service. But also just as you did last month you adjusted the color. Right now the color layout is poor.

    Rikard I can’t explain it any plainer that I need the menu buttons to show on a mobile phone and I need you to adjust the color scheme and pick better colors please so it’s not a mess.

    But when viewed thru a mobile browser is no menu to navigate. Can you please fix this too?

    Please try this in Quick CSS:

    Did you select to use a different menu for mobile under Enfold->Main Menu? If so then please make sure that you add all the menu item you want to display in the selected menu under Appearance->Menus in the WordPress menu.

    I provided access to WordPress previously in this thread in private. The credentials are still valid. I added that snippet of code you sent me. Next in the drop down there are 3 choices in WordPress in the “Alternate Menu for Mobile”

    1. Do not use for mobile
    2. mainMenu –> Enfold Child Secondary Menu (using this one currently in my settings)
    3 topMenu AMP Footer Menu

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update. If you view the menu you have selected on the page in private, you will see that it only contains one page. You need to add the pages which you want to display in the mobile menu to the actual menu you have selected to display.

    It explains a lot! Can you explain in a little more detail? I’ve set up the menus before in this area but this has 6 different places where the menu appears so its a little more complicated … so can you give me more of a step by step ..

    With more direction I think I can get this done..

    Hi,

    Please refer to the screenshot in private, you don’t need to set a location for the menu.

    I see that you have updated to WordPress 5.6, please install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/, and select to use jQuery 1.12.4 in the plugin options. Otherwise the alternate menu for mobile won’t work in the current version of the theme.

    Thank you for the explanation. I followed all steps & successfully installed. Where I am currently…

    On a desktop I see the menus but they are duplicated. I would like to remove the top most one. But when you go Incognito and view on Mobile that is the only menu I see. So the good news is people can now navigate my website properly on a mobile.

    So therefore I have 2 questions.
    1. Can we eliminate the duplicate menu when viewed on desktop
    2. How do I get the other menu on my mobile not the one currently being used. Is that an option?

    Hi,

    1. You had selected for that menu to be shown as your secondary menu under Appearance->Menus, I deselected it for you.

    2. You can select any menu for mobile, simply set the menu of your choice under Enfold->Main Menu->General->Alternate Menu for Mobile.

    When I read your response I went Incognito to view the menus on mobile. There are NO menus at all now. I’m not sure what’s going on? So far it’s either both menus or none. We need to figure this out. Meanwhile you need to adjust back because I get both menus. Rather have both menus then none at all. With none at all the only navigation is within the footer. ..

    Is this a glitch? Take a look please.

    Not too happy about your comment this morning! If you take the time to scroll up just a few inches you notice Rikard handled one aspect of the task we were working on. I congratulated him for that. However we’re NOT done! So yes I do need further assistance! I’ve been working on this for the better part of a month!

    We are almost finished but until complete this is affecting website conversions …

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the update. I’ve added some CSS to fix your mobile menu, please check it again.

    The warnings from the plugin is nothing to worry about, it won’t affect anything on the site. Once the next version of the theme is released then you should be able to remove the plugin completely.
