    Hello,
my SISTRIX crawler found a problem with my site. For every searchpage there is a hidden backlink to mysite.com/search <- but this site doesn’t exist. This means I am heavily linking to 404-pages. How can I fix this. Below in the private content there is a screenshot showing example URLs pointing to the mentioned non existent page.

    Hey KVSchneppenheim!

    Thank you for using Enfold.

Why is there a search query string on every page? I’m referring to the “?s=” appended to the url. I checked it on another seo tool but I don’t see the same error: https://www.woorank.com/en/www/camicama.com

    Best regards,
    Ismael

You don’t see this error there because this is not a crawler who crawled our whole page. The URL looks like this when you perform a search on our website. http://www.camicama.com/?s=keywords and on this page there is a link to the above shown URL, which is nonexistent.

    Hi!

Disallow the “/search” results page from being indexed so that it won’t affect the site’s seo. Here’s why: https://www.mattcutts.com/blog/search-results-in-search-results/

And here’s a plugin that you can use to configure the robot.txt file: https://yoast.com/noindexfollow-your-wordpress-search-result-pages/

    Regards,
    Ismael

I already have SEO by yoast installed and there is not much to change as you can see here: http://i.imgur.com/vTiVYFB.png

    Hi!

Do you have a robot.txt file in the site’s root directory? If you don’t have one, try to create a robot.txt file then disallow the robots from indexing the search pages.

    http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html
    http://www.robotstxt.org/faq/prevent.html

    Example:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /search
    Disallow: /*?s=

This will disallow the robots from crawling the /search directory and everything with the ?s= query string.

Indeed I have a robots.txt which is accessible via http://camicama.com/robots.txt , but the file is not located in the root folder of my directory. I can’t find the robots.txt and I assume that this file is generated dynamically because of the “SEO by yoast” plugin.

    Hey!

Look for it outside the public_html folder. The file should be located in root directory of the file server, not the wp root directory.
