Left sidebar not showing widgets

I have an issue with the left sidebar not showing any content (the screen is divided correctly so there is a sidebar but the widgets aren’t showing up).

I am using Enfold Child based on parent version 4.7.6.1
The widgets I am looking to show are from the Sensei LMS plugin. But to test I added a standard WP text widget and that equally doesn’t show, therefore I believe i must be a theme issue.

The page in question has the left sidebar section selected with the custom widgets so it should be a problem.
To confirm all widgets are shown in the page’s html and all child theme css has been removed, so they definitely aren’t conflicting with the parent theme. I can only see that it must be a css display issue…..

Please can someone advise on a fix?
