Hello,
I have encountered nasty bugs on our website. The ability to edit layersliders and menues is no longer working.
We can no longer add anything new, remove anything, edit existing ones and so on. I think there are conflicting files and/or code that has been changed.I believe it happened when we moved the website (EDIT: I should mention that we did restore a previous backed up version of the website from before we moved it so the issue may have happened before then). Unfortunately we don’t know how to solve this.
I have searched around for similar issues here but found none that helped. I have at least verified that the WordPress version isn’t the culprit and none of the plugins seems to be the issue either.I appreciate all the help I can get for this issue. I will provide whatever information needed that can better give us your help.

Thanks for the login details. First off, could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.8.3) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update.
Best regards,

Thank you for your response. I will update as soon as possible and come back to you with results.
July 16, 2021 at 10:47 am #1310375Hi again Rikard,
I have updated the theme and it did in fact solve the layerslider problem which is fantastic.
The only thing remaining to solve is the menu issue on our /utv2/ website.I’m leaning towards the issue being from the filter plugin we are using “Category AJAX Filter PRO”, though I can’t confirm it. Deactivating the plugin don’t solve it and we can’t update it because it will remove all our custom coding. Out of all the website versions we have, /ut2/ is the only one with this menu bug and the only difference I see when comparing to the different sites is the WP version. I was thinking of trying to revert it to a previous version, not too far back though.
Do you know if it would cause any compatible issues with enfold theme version 4.8.3 if I were to revert the current WP version to say 5.7 (it’s currently on 5.7.2)? Or do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you in advance.
July 16, 2021 at 11:08 am #1310379Hello again Rikard,
We did manage to update the plugins through an odd method without losing our custom codes and have verified that the menu problem unfortunately remains. I don’t think reverting our WP version would help knowing this now but I would still like to know if there would be any compatible issues with it. Do you have any suggestions on what the cause might be and a possible solution?
Thanks in advance.
July 17, 2021 at 12:17 pm #1310482Hi,
Thanks for the update. I’m not sure I understand the problem you are having with menus, could you let us know how to reproduce it please? I checked under Appearance->Menus, but editing the Hem menu seems to be working as it should on my end.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 19, 2021 at 9:05 am #1310692Hey Rikard,
The menu issue is a bit different from the layerslider. Sorry, I should have been more clear about that. You can edit but you can’t add anything new from inside WP and in “anpassa”. Is this something you can replicate on your side?
I also received a mail from WordPress telling us that there is an issue with the enfold theme.
I added its content into the private field. Thanks in advance.
July 20, 2021 at 4:54 am #1310806Hi,
Thanks for the update and clarification. I see the same problem with you menu when trying to add a new items for example, nothing happens when doing that for some reason. I can’t see any error messages, so I’m not sure what is causing it unfortunately. Does the same thing happen if you activate one of the default WordPress themes? You could also try to disable all plugins, to see what happens then.
The emails you got from WordPress is referencing an old version of the theme, and I see that you are running the latest version now. Are you still getting emails like that, after you are running the latest version?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 20, 2021 at 8:51 am #1310843Hello Rikard,
We have previously deactivated all plugins but the issue remained.
We have had the latest WP version for weeks and we got the mail yesterday.I activated a different theme as you suggested. Unfortunately it did not solve the issue and it broke the entire website so we are currently restoring a backup. Any other suggestions worth trying?
Thanks in advance.
July 21, 2021 at 5:36 am #1311011Hi,
Thanks for the update.
We have had the latest WP version for weeks and we got the mail yesterday.
I’m asking about the latest version of the theme, not WordPress. Did you get this email after running Enfold 4.8.3? The problem in the email is not necessary related to a problem in the theme, since the reported error is a WordPress file (admin-ajax.php).
If the same problem happens with the menu after activating a default WordPress theme, then it’s likely not theme related. I’ve seen problem happen on other WordPress installations as well, when the menus are very large. You might want to try to increase the memory allocated to PHP to see if that changes anything: https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php
Best regards,
RikardJuly 21, 2021 at 8:21 am #1311058Hi Rikard,
Ah, apologizes. Enfold has been on the latest version for around 6 days.
The websites PHP memory limit has been maxed out for a very long time at 2048M.Anything else comes to mind?
Thanks in advance.
July 22, 2021 at 8:16 am #1311363Hi,
Thanks for the update. Could you share server error logs with us please?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 22, 2021 at 11:50 am #1311437Hey Rikard,
No problem. Open the link I included in the private field and you will gain access to the files.
If there is anything more you need please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks in advance.
July 24, 2021 at 4:26 am #1312012Hi,
Thanks for that. The link you sent is asking me to login, but I don’t have a Microsoft account, and the password you sent doesn’t do anything unfortunately. Could you share the files in some other way maybe?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 26, 2021 at 8:48 am #1312320Hey Rikard,
A Microsoft account is not needed (I tested it myself without an account).
Enter the provided link and you will be able to download the files. I created a new link since the previous one expired. If for some reason it’s still not working for you I will search around for alternatives.
Thanks in advance.
July 26, 2021 at 9:57 am #1312349Hi Rikard,
I don’t think we can resolve the bug. It does seem like it’s an issue that lies deep in the website, so we have decided to rebuild the new systems in an older separate version of the website which doesn’t have the bug in it. At least we managed to resolve the layerslider bug.
We can close this errand. Thanks for all the support this far. I wish you a good week.
