    Hi

we need to test an in-place upgrade from 4.4 to 4.6 on our dev site on wpengine, but it asks for username & key

If we have a license for our main domain, do we need a separate license for our (private) dev site?

the sites are both hosted on wpengine and we clone the site from dev to production once amends are complete on dev.

am I ok to add the api key into the dev site without affecting the license on our main domain, or do we need a separate license for the private dev site

    please advise
    thanks
    J

    Hey J,

    Thanks for contacting us!

No, you can use the same license on your staging and live server.

However you would not be able to auto update the theme as you are using an version older than 4.5. Envato has updated their API and API keys are deprecated. We applied those changes in Enfold 4.5 so any Enfold version older than 4.5 would not auto update. Please update the theme via FTP – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-update/#update-via-ftp and then refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token and generate a Personal Token to receive auto updates :)

Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Regards,
    Yigit

    Hi,

Yes, you can delete old version and then install new version. If there were no modifications on parent theme files, it should go smoothly :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit
