Hi there!
We are using the Enfold theme and a little while ago we made some changes to our homepage. However now whenever we click on this page, initially a close-up view of the main image is shown and then after a second or two the whole image is shown. We appear to have this problem on all devices.
Another problem is that the whole website seems to be loading pretty slowly. Can you recommend what we can do about this? Maybe there are some settings in Enfold we need to change, or we should not use such a big image on the homepage? Or maybe there is some plugin we can use that shows a cached version of the website?
Thank you

Did you activate file compression under Enfold->Performance? If not, then please try that out. Also make sure that you select to activate the option to delete the old CSS and JS files on the same page.
There are plenty of caching/performance plugins out there, we don’t really have one to recommend to you, but if you try searching for one online, the you should get recommendations which you can try out on your site.

June 24, 2021 at 9:44 pm #1307358Hello again,
I have now activated file compression under Enfold > Peformance.
I also activated WP Super Cache and the free version of Optimus (image compression plugin).
However, this doesn’t seem to have had any effect. The homepage is still loading very slowly and something strange always happens with the big image at the top (it Zooms in and then out).
Any more ideas?
Do you we could solve this problem with the premium version of Optimus?
June 29, 2021 at 4:39 am #1307838Hi,
Thanks for the update, and sorry for the late reply. Please send us a temporary WordPress admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.
I’m not familiar with the Optimus plugin unfortunately, so I can’t really answer your question.

Thanks very much for your reply. We are in the process of migrating our site to a new domain, so if the problem still persists after the migration, I will let you know so that you can have a look.
Thanks again :)

We have now migrated our website to the new domain we want to use. The homepage seems to be loading quicker now, but not as quickly as some other sites (e.g. https://kriesi.at/ ).
Do you think there’s anything else we can do to make it load quicker? Or is this as good as it can be for now?
July 12, 2021 at 7:10 am #1309687Hi,
Thanks for the update. Our company site has very good dedicated hosting, so it’s not really a fair comparison to compare your own site with ours. You mentioned that you host your site with one.com, and my own experience with them is not very good when considering load speeds unfortunately. If you look at the test in private for example, then you will see that the server takes almost 1 second to even respond, which is way to much. You can bring that up with your hosting provider, but I’m not sure they can give or guarantee you much better results. If you want my advice for a simply way to speed up your site, then it would be to get a better hosting provider. If that’s not an option for you, then there are a lot of suggestions how to speed up your site in the test in private.

Thanks so much for your reply. We would like to look into this again. However, when I click on the link you sent via Private Data, it is no longer valid. Would you mind sending me an updated link?
Also, we are considering switching to a different hoster to improve the page loading time. Someone has recommended Siteground. Do you know how Siteground compares with one.com?
And would you mind letting me know what hoster the Kriesi website is using? Like, I said, we were impressed with the loading speed and the Kriesi.at website.
Thank you.
