    Hi!

    Looks like I have version 4.4.1 installed on my site. How would I install the newest updates? I’m hoping it doesn’t involve FTP or anything like that?

    Hey Amanda,

    The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

    You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

    If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

    After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

    Hi,

    Envato/Themeforest changed the system which handles update, so your installation can’t access the new system. That is why it thinks that it’s running the latest version.

    I’m going through the process now.

    Question: to update my existing theme, would I want to deactivate my theme right now, per these instructions (and if I do that, won’t my site break in some way)?

    “To re-install enfold theme via the WordPress dashboard without losing data.

    Go to Appearance > Themes page and first, deactivate the active enfold theme as active themes cannot be removed.”

    Hi,

    You can always download the latest version of the theme from your Themeforest account.

    If you are not comfortable with updating via FTP, then I would recommend that you use the plugin I linked to above in this thread. If you want to update via FTP, then I would recommend that you create a new folder called enfold_new for instance, then upload the theme files there. You can then rename the old theme folder to enfold_old, then rename the new folder to only enfold. If everything works after that then you can delete the old folder.

    If you need help with updating then please include WordPress and FTP login details in private along with a verification that you have backups of the the site, and we’ll help you out.

    I have this theme purchased for both of my sites, and they’re under the same host.

    Do you have an email so that I can set you up as a collaborator so that you can get my FTP info? It’s with BigScoots.

    I just wrote out all the details in the Private Content area and hit submit…and got “Error: Your reply cannot be empty”.

    Thank you for the WordPress logins, they worked for me, but the FTP logins didn’t, please check.
    Also, did you upload your latest theme zip file download from Envato to one of your sites for us to use?

    Thanks for that, the IP number seems correct. But I still can’t login unfortunately, please see private. Where did you copy the login details from? The FTP client seems to have a problem with this:

    Login data contains non-ASCII characters and server might not be UTF-8 aware
