    FYI – we just updated one of our sites to the enfold 4.5.1 and then updated to the WordPress 5.0 with Gutenberg editor. This created problems when editing pages using the Avia Layout Builder.

    We found a fix for disabling the Gutenberg editor and everything is currently working great, so here’s the steps we took;
    Instruction Video –

    In the cPanel and the Child Theme’s functions.php we added these lines below the <?php:

    //Disable Gutenberg editor
    add_filter(‘use_block_editor_for_post’, ‘__return_false’);

    Does enfold see any potential problems with the above solution?

    Hey So Evolve,
    Thanks for the video, but on my localhost using the function with Enfold also disables the advanced layout builder in v4.5.1
    Have you tried it with Enfold yet?

    I’m using it right now without any problems or issues! As stated, our enfold theme is the newest version 4.5.1 and WP 5.0

    you can also load classic editor plugin that works too as it overrides Gutenberg

    FYI – Mike was correct, we can use the Avia Layout editor on old pages and posts but this “function.php” edit does disable the Avia Layout Builder for any New Pages or Posts!

    Confirmed this on two sites with both WP 5.0 and Enfold 4.5.1

    We just installed CGain’s suggested plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-gutenberg/
    and it works without conflict to the enfold theme.

    Hope this helps…

    Still, need a permanent solution to this problem!

    What is Enfold doing in regards to new themes and the Avia Editor as it relates to Guttenberg. Is Guttenberg the reason why there have been no new themes in Enfold as of late?

    Also, All of these Guttenberg blocking plugins will not be supported in 2021. Is Kriesi working on solutions to make the Avia editor compatible with the new WP udpate?

    I love Enfold and use it for many brands, but am concerned about this since all of my sites are completely broken by the Guttenburg update.

    Any information given is greatly appreciated.

    Mike,

    We’re going through multiple sites and updating them to the enfold 4.5.2 and on two of the site, we’re experiencing an “Updating Failed” error while trying to save work after edits.

    FYI – prior to updates we removed the “Disable Gutenberg” plugin

    Some sites are fine while others are having these issues…

    Your Thoughts?

    **Fixed by doing the following:

    2) Theme Options: go to the bottom and select;
    Use WP Classic Editor

    Simple once we notice this option

    The option is on the bottom of the Enfold Theme Options page, under the maintenance mode setting, if you are using at least version 4.5.1

    Hi,
    Please try replacing the file at: /enfold/config-gutenberg/class-avia-gutenberg.php with the one linked in the Private Content area, but please save a backup of your original file.
    Then be sure to clear your browser cache.

    I have browsed the folders to find
    /enfold/config-gutenberg/class-avia-gutenberg.php

    but did’nt succed. Please help me find the way to the right folder!

    Hi,
    I just checked again and that is the right path for v4.5.5,
    2019-04-03-203205
    But I see you are using v4.5, so you are going to need to update and then if you are still having problems then try changing the file.
    Please note that if you update via FTP, you will need to remove the old theme folder first (via FTP) then upload the new folder.
    Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
