Hi,
I’ve read some of the other posts about the google maps not working, but have not found a solution yet. My client has done all the updating on the Google java script API side of things (including linking a credit card), but all the maps that used to display no longer display. I’ve even installed a plugin called Google Maps API KEY, and inserted the API key here, and it still doesn’t work. Can you please take a look and see if you can help? My only alternative is to manually code each map with the api key included (I did this for an example map, and it worked). The maps created through the theme no longer work. It just says, “For development purposed only.”. I’ve pasted a link to the website below.
Thanks!February 23, 2019 at 8:13 am #1070621Hey webdesign,

February 27, 2019 at 7:53 am #1072174Hi webdesign,
Thanks for the login details, I see that you are running an old version of the theme. That is the likely reason for your problems. Could you try updating to 4.5.4 to see if that helps please? The update to 4.5 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try deleting the whole theme folder and upload the new version as usual.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,

Please try to completely delete the old theme folder, then install the new version as usual to see if that helps.

Once I did that, it resolved the map error issue. So, I think this issue was a combination of all the above, but it is now resolved on my testing site. I will apply these changes to my live site. Thank you.

Thanks for the update, you are getting this error message on the page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors. Did you add billing details to the Google account which you created the API key with?

An error in the console says that you’ve exceeded the request quota for the API. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve used up the allowed limit because there are other factors that could generate this notice, setting http restrictions or an imposed daily limit for example. Did you set http restrictions or limit for your API?
Best regards,
