Are there any circumstances that we can continue to use google maps without registering a Credit Card to each API key? I’m just using the “google maps” from within the enfold theme. I have 23 customers to manage before June 11th. My customers don’t want to give a credit card even if they are unlikely not to get charged based on low usage, and i’m not putting my card in for everyone. I know you can embed bing for free, but i don’t think you can have a marker placed, and their maps are not up to date on things. Any help or ideas to resolve this even if they don’t include Google are welcome. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your predicament. I don’t know of any way to get around it. But the best response to customers who don’t want to set up a Google API account is that you’ll be happy to remove the Google map from the site. This is a change Google made and they have to roll with it if they want to continue using their service. Or they could pay you or someone to draw a custom map for them in Illustrator, for example. Or they can pay you for your time to figure out how to embed from Bing or something. In the end, a credit card on file is the cheapest solution for them.

That’s my two cents, anyway. Good luck!

You are completely right. I have overly owned this issue as if i created it. Ugh. i spent the day moving most customers to Bing. Sometimes it’s not a technical solution but a boundary. Thanks for the reminder of that.
