My client requested that I reduce the number of footer areas in a site I’m building for them.

In the theme options I reduced the number from four to three and redistributed the widgets according to the new spec.

This has caused two unexpected behaviors.

    1) The widget intended for the third widget area shows up stacked under the 2nd widget instead.
    2) When I go back to four footer widget areas in the theme options, the 3rd widget correctly displays in the 3rd column, but –> an Archive widget displays in the 4th column even though on Dashboard->Appearance->Widgets the 4th widget area is empty!

    Suggestions very much appreciated!

I’ve added links and credentials in the private area

    Thanks!

Update: I fixed problem #1. A condition in the spec called for a border between 2/3 and 1/3 columns on most pages, with padding and other buffering. Enfold has lots of great CSS classes, but no obvious way to add our own classes to anything.

The hack I chose was too general, with the result that when I had only three columns in the footer the classes hooked them too. Adding #footer in front of .el_before_av_one_third.flex_column, and .el_after_av_one_third.flex_column seems to have done the trick.

Still no explanation for problem #2 in my original request, and I’m not sure how CSS would cause unattached widgets to display. But at least they’re no longer displaying on screen.

    Hi,

Still no explanation for problem #2 in my original request, and I’m not sure how CSS would cause unattached widgets to display. But at least they’re no longer displaying on screen.

That is the dummy widget which will automatically display if the widget area is empty. Add a blank text widget to the 4th footer widget area. We tried to login to the site but the password is incorrect.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
