    Hi

I have this issue when trying to update the theme from Version 4.4 to Version (4.5.4):
Une erreur est survenue lors de la mise à jour de Enfold : Le téléchargement a échoué. L’URL fournie n’est pas valide.
    which means :
“An error occured during Enfold update: Download has failed. The provided URL is invalid.”

    Could you help?
    Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from versions 4.4.1 and below, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the entire theme folder, then upload the new version after that. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting the update.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

if I do the update manually via FTP, do I have to delete both folders, the enfold-folder AND the enfold-child-folder.
In enfold-child I have the files footer.php, functions.php, style.css and I think one of our guys did some changes there.
How will these files be updated ?

    Best regards,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

You could create a new folder called enfold_new for instance and upload the new version there. If everything works as it should then you can delete the old version, then rename the new folder. I don’t know what you have in your functions.php and footer.php files so it’s difficult to say if something will go wrong. You don’t need to delete your child theme folder.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

okay – now everything works fine.
The whole issue costs me one afternoon – and as we all know – time is running short….
But – now everything is fine, including token, individual changes in footer.php etc. etc.

    Thanks and regards,

    Michael
