    This one’s a little difficult…

    Mobile only issue:

I noticed with the share buttons that while Twitter launches the Twitter app on iPhone, the Facebook button launches the desktop version of Facebook and you have to log in if you aren’t logged in… instead of the Facebook button launching the app. It seems like the Facebook button should launch the Facebook app on iPhone, just as the Twitter button launches the Twitter app on iPhone if installed.

I have only noticed this on iPhone… desktop works fine… and only with Facebook.

    Is this a small bug?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Here’s an example site where it’s happening… must do this with iPhone:

    Hey Rob,

That is actually done on Twitter end and similar should be applied by Facebook.
For Facebook you can either use fb:// or https://, fb:// opens links in app and https:// opens in browser. We can not use fb:// because if user does not have Facebook installed on their device, it would not work and since currently there is no way for us to check “if Facebook app is installed on users device”, we simply use https:// and open in browser as all users have a browser on their device :)

    Hi Yigit!

Thank you for the response! That makes sense and I now see the same behavior from other big websites. Looks like it’s another thing that Facebook needs to clean up…. when you have an evil empire there is much to do I guess…. ;)

thanks and hope you are well,
