Hello–I’m a little behind the times and trying to upgrade my Enfold theme as part of my managed WordPress v5.0.3/PHP version 5.6 site. Whenever I try to upgrade the theme, I get this error:

    “Downloading update from …
An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.”

I searched the forums and found that the moderator in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/ said to open a new thread if you were having trouble.

So, I’m opening up a new thread. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

    Hey wgiammona,

    Thanks for doing that.
Please try the solution on this thread first: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/update-4-5-2-to-4-5-3-doesnt-work/#post-1060358

    Hi Nikko–

Thanks for responding. went to that link and found these instructions:

Go to Enfold theme panel –> Update
There should still be the update button for the theme
Delete the Envato private token and click the revalidate or remove button
The update button should still be there (but the token field is empty now) click update theme
You should get the message Theme update successful but should still have the 4.5.2
Now go back to theme panel –> Update
Enter your private token again and hit validate
After that check for theme updates manually till the update button shows up
Click it and update…… hopefully now with no “download failed. Forbidden”

But my Enfold Theme Update panel doesn’t have a private token. It has a “Your Themeforest API Key” field instead. I don’t have a “revalidate” or “remove” button.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

    Hi wgiammona,

Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi wgiammona,

Thanks, can you try to do the following? (make sure to backup your site first)
Also I would suggest doing it first on a staging site (here’s a tutorial: https://themeisle.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/ ) this way you can test it out first since your live site might get messed up with a lot of changes that has been added.
    1. Switch to a default wordpress theme like twentynineteen
    2. Delete the Enfold theme
    3. Upload the latest version of Enfold (enfold.zip) then set it as the active theme again.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

Yes, it’s been a while, but finally had a chance to try this and it worked! Thank you so much. I’ve been continuously impressed with both your product and the service!
