    Hi,
I’m relifting one of my website dated 2018.
When I want to update-upgrade enfold it says that I’m running 4.3 and that it’s the current version even when I’m checking manually.
On my other sites, Enfold is running 4.9.3.

How can I do to update enfold at no risk for my website?
    Thanks

    Best regards

    Hey Ad-Min747,

The update to 5.1.2 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
    thanks for your prompt answer.

Ref your solution: At no risk for the current theme settings? My customer likes things to be perfect and i do not want to take any risk regarding the existing site updating the theme. I’m a bit ill at ease to be honest.
I use enfold with a child theme. The which should i replace?
    Thanks

    Hi,

As with any other update, you should have proper backups in place, and you can export your theme settings in the theme options. Try uploading the new version to a new folder first of all.

    Rikard

“Try uploading the new version to a new folder first of all.”
    And then?

Sorry for my probably simplistic question

    #1367990

    Hi,

..and then rename the old folder to enfold_old for example, and the new folder to only enfold.

    Rikard

    Hi,
may be keep it opened as far as I have ghosts in the theme settings which seems not to have recovered all setting:

    For example:
    – Bold and H1 should be #003085 Blue. It OK in the preview but turns Grey in the published page
    – When I make the Top menu bar sticky, the background supposed to be blue #003085 it turns transparent instead of remaing whith
    – Menu items should be Blue #003085. They are Purple #683498 instead of #003085 and clear blue #0066cc when uploading pr clicking
    – Post footer for related post: links are Purple #683498 instead of #003085 and clear blue #0066cc
    – I don’t get rid of the little pencil appearing up in the post
    – Over and under each section appears à thin black line which should be white (transparent) instead of black
    – Website icon turned WP icon instead of the one in theme settings

I’ve tried many settings in the theme option without succeding.

    How can I proceed?

    Best.Regards

    Hi Rikard,
    sorry, hereunder.

By the way, i’ve just seen that the menu on a mobile device is “transparent” and shouldn’t. Strange, it seems that part of the right settings are taken into account and other not.

    Hi,

Thanks for that. Could you clear all caches and deactivate your caching plugins until we have checked this problem for you please?

    Hi,
OK Cache cleared and WP Super Cache deactivated.
    Best

PS : Sorry, mistake on my side in ” – When I make the Top menu bar sticky, the background supposed to be WHITE it turns transparent instead of remaing WHITE

    #1368317

    Hi,

Thanks, but your site resources are still being loaded from a cached source. Please see example in private.

    Hi,
    i’ve just deactivated :
    – autoptimize (and clear cache via its interface)
    – Jetpack

and cleaned the site with WP-Optimise and deactivated.

    Anything I can do further?
    Let me know

    Best regards
    JM

PS: as admin i’m OK if you should go in the extensions menus

    #1368380

    Hi,

Thanks for that. The problem seems to go away after deactivating CSS file compression under Enfold->Performance, but comes back when it’s active. I’m not sure exactly why that is happening, but it might be a temporary problem, or due to caching. Could you try keeping that option deactivated for a few days, then try to turn it on again, if you should need it?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    #1368395

    Hi Rikard,
thanks for your prompt answer and action. The site seems better indeed.
OK, I leave CSS Compression deactivated for a while (or ever).

    Have a nice day
