    Hello,

    Every time i seem to update Enfold, my custom footer deletes. Is there a way to not have this happen and keep my site exactly as it currently is?

    Any detailed help will be appreciated, thanks!

    Hey Shiv722,

    Enfold theme update removes all of the theme files and updates it with a new one, since you are doing some modifications on footer.php, try using a child theme: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/

    I have never set up a child theme before. If i follow the steps on that link, by first downloading the child theme and then import/export, will that keep everything the same as how my site currently is?

    Hi,
    Yes it will, if you would like use the “Export theme settings file” first and save it to your computer, that way you will have a backup. Then use the “Import parent theme settings” When this is done you may need to clear your browser cache a few times, and if you have a cache plugin clear it too.
    Then save your modify footer to your child theme folder for it to work, if you watch the video at 7:26 it talks about this.
