    Hello,

I am currently running Enfold version 4.2.6. I repeatedly have to revert back to this version every time I attempt to update as I keep losing things like my LayerSlider or my Calendar or my RSS feed (Series Engine) will not work with the updated version.

What have I done so far?

    1) Created a child theme. I then updated Enfold via downloading the zipped folder from Theme Forest. Unzipped the folder as well as Enfold. Deleted the Enfold theme via FileZilla and then uploaded the updated version (4.5.3). After I activate, sometimes I will get something that looks close but big ticket items are missing like LayerSlider or our Series Engine will not work properly. I went into LayerSlider and made sure it didn’t get deactivated. There is just a large, blank element where the LayerSlider should be even though it is activated and has multiple slides that should be playing. The CSS is also changed slightly but is less concerning. That said, when I grab the header.php and footer.php files from a backup stored on my local machine, no changes are implemented even when I have the child theme activated adding to my frustration/confusion.

    2) I have attempted to create a testing site both on my local machine as well as through our hosting agent and both times get denied because a certain file is too large (I’m sorry, I can’t remember exactly which file but I think its max allowance is 10 MB and we are way over it). I’m hoping you have an idea of what I’m referring to there as our hosting agent tried to get around this with me for up to 3 hours at a time to no avail. He suggested switching themes as he believes the file may be required for your theme but didn’t provide much further insight than that.

    3) I have also attempted the first thing mentioned and drug every file over, one-by-one from my Enfold backup folder into my child theme and refreshed multiple times to see if I could see any changes such as our edited CSS but to no avail.

Without a testing site, I end up having to do these things from around 11 PM to 3 AM in order to mitigate the inconvenience for our many users but each time I run into a wall. Not sure what else to do at this point and would very much appreciate someone’s help to resolve this as the further we fall behind on our updates the less secure our site is getting and our plugins begin to not work properly.

    Thank you.

    Hey crossroadsabc,

Layer Slider does not work with Gutenberg, so when you get Enfold 4.5.3 you need to choose The Classic editor in the Theme options at the bottom of the first tab.

Can you please share the login link as well?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Hello Victoria,

I do not use Gutenberg, I use the Classic editor. I have provided the login link info below. Thank you for your help!

    Hi Victoria,

Thank you for pointing that out. I updated our PHP version via our hosting provider and LayerSlider still would not perform. I went ahead and disabled all plugins and was able to get it going with our Series Engine plugin disabled. I would have loved to keep it but if that is the only major plugin that we have to lose then we will move on. Thanks for your help!
