    Hello,
    I have started to work with a new client who has the Enfold theme installed on their website. It seems the website was created years ago and it hasn’t gotten any maintenance done at all. It was still running WordPress v4 and php 5.6, for example. The Enfold theme running is 4.4.1 and as far as I can see, the client doesn’t have any Themeforest account nor API key, and of course, nor an Envato personal token.
    I’ve emailed their previous developer to inquire about whether they have any documents that can help us get an update now, but since I’m not too confident on that path, I wanted to check with you if there’s any way we can purchase an update for the theme.

    Hey Carlos,

    Sorry for the problem. If you don’t have access to a Themeforest account and if you can’t get it from the previous developer, then I think you would need to purchase a new license. Otherwise you will have this problem every time you need to update or have access to the latest version of the theme.

    After you have access to the theme files then the update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

    You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

    If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

    Thanks for the quick reply. The website owner has created a Themeforest account. What should we do from there to get the updated theme?

    Hi Carlos,

    If you have not heard back from previous developer, I am afraid you would need to purchase a new license – https://themeforest.net/item/enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme/4519990 to update the theme.
    Then you can refer to Rikard’s post above and register the theme so you would receive theme updates in WordPress dashboard :)
