As with everyone else, I can’t update to 4.5. The threads are so jumbled with responses, I’m not sure what the appropriate steps are to update. Please advise why this is a manual update and the steps to take so as to not overwrite my sites. I don’t have any special CSS, etc. so I am not using a child theme.

Hi Sara,

Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5 has to be done manually like you mentioned, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

Also make sure that you have backups of the site before you start doing anything, in case something should go wrong. Your CSS in Quick CSS or theme settings should not be overwritten during the update, but you can export your settings in the theme options just to be on the safe side.
