Hello, I cannot seem to get the Instagram Side Bar Widget working on the Sidebar Blog despite using the same Instagram username that I have used for the logo in the theme social settings (which displays on the header and actually work). The username entered is correct, unless it should be formatted differently.

I’d be grateful for any help, please.

    Thank you.

    Hey gfriend70,
I’m not sure why you are getting this error, I tested by adding an Instagram HTML embed below your widget and it is working, when I try adding a Instagram widget to my test site I get this error: Instagram returned error 429 (= Too Many Requests).
But your site just gives this error: Instagram has returned invalid data.
I’m not sure why we would get different error messages except that my demo site has no plugins and is in the US?

    Best regards,
    Mike

I have a couple of other websites with different themes. Both have a page which used to display an Instagram feed. Both now display this error:

Instagram Feed is encountering an error and your feeds may not be updating due to the following reasons:
There has been a problem with your Instagram Feed.

API error 999: Your access token could not be decrypted on this website. Reconnect this account or go to our website to learn how to prevent this.

Also, they display a button telling me how to fix the error, which links to this page:

Not sure if the above is connected to the reason why Enfold Instagam feed is failing?

    Hi,
I don’t know about the smash balloon plugin, but it sounds like you have a few sites displaying the same Instagram account, I recommend trying to disable all of these and wait 24 hours for Instagram to refresh, then try the simple Enfold widget to see if will display. I suggest this one because it doesn’t use any API. If this doesn’t work please disable and I will try again on my demo site, hopefully after Instagram stops giving the error: Instagram returned error 429 (= Too Many Requests) the Enfold widget should work for you, then you can try the smash balloon plugin on your other site and see if it works again.
I’m not sure if Instagram has some limitation on the number of requests that can be made to your account, but it sounds like there might be based on the error message. Try checking with Instagram to see if there is.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi Mike, I only have two websites which use an Instagram feed. Each uses a different feed and both display the same error as above. This is a new error as both sites used to work fine. I’m keen to get the Enfold Instagram widget working more than anything.

    Hi,
Thank you for your patience, I’m not sure what this could be, I have asked the rest of the team for advice.

    Best regards,

    Hey!

    Thank you for your patience.

Did you set your Instagram account to be private? We tried to view your Instagram account directly but it just redirects to a login page, which might mean that the account or profile is not public, or Instagram now requires users to login in order to see any profile. We might have to adjust the Instagram widget if that is the case.

Have you tried using the Smash Balloon version of the Instagram widget?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the info.

Have you tried using the Smash Balloon plugin and the other version of the Instagram widget? Please try to install and configure the Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed plugin, then insert the Enfold Child Instagram (Smash Balloon) widget.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I have disabled the Smash Balloon plugin and the Instagram widget still does not work.

    Hi,

Sorry for the confusion. You should not disable the Smash Balloon plugin, just replace the current instagram widget with the Enfold Instagram (Smash Balloon) version of the widget and make sure to configure the smash balloon settings as described in the documentation.

    // https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/instagram/#setup

Please note that there are two versions of the instagram widget in the theme, the default instagram widget and the the smash balloon version of the widget.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
